Hi Ashley, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
With a diverse background spanning marketing, merchandising, operations, hospitality, and event management, I bring a dynamic approach to fostering downtown Ann Arbor’s growth and vibrancy.

My journey to this role has been shaped by more than a decade of experience in retail, restaurant groups, nonprofits, and health and wellness services. From managing product launches and marketing campaigns to curating events that drive community engagement, I’ve has built a reputation for strategic innovation and collaboration. My expertise in social media marketing, budget management, and business development has allowed me to create impactful programs that elevate both brands and communities.

Beyond my professional accomplishments, I am is passionate about sustainable development and fostering strong local connections. I truly believe in the power of community collaboration and eager to support downtown businesses while making Ann Arbor’s Main Street district a destination for both residents and visitors.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
While building my career, I was also navigating motherhood, striving to balance a profession I loved with the responsibilities of home life. It was a challenging transition—especially as someone who pours their heart into their passions, always wanting to give 100%.

Along the way, I worked for companies that supported both growth and balance, as well as those where our priorities didn’t fully align. However, each experience provided valuable lessons, helping me reflect, adapt, and grow. Every step of the journey has shaped me into the leader I am today, and I’m grateful for the path that brought me here.

We’ve been impressed with Main Street Ann Arbor, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The Main Street Area Association (MSAA) is a 501(c)(6) nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving the long-term success and vitality of downtown Ann Arbor. Committed to fostering a vibrant and welcoming community, MSAA supports local businesses, arts, and cultural events that enhance the experience for both residents and visitors.

MSAA is best known for organizing signature events that bring energy to downtown while promoting and supporting the businesses within our district. Beyond events, we take pride in our role as a connector and advocate, fostering relationships that drive growth and strengthen the downtown community.

Our work extends beyond programming—we are dedicated to beautification efforts, creating diverse activities, and providing valuable promotional resources to ensure downtown Ann Arbor remains a thriving destination.

We actively seek community feedback to help shape our events and initiatives. Community input plays a crucial role in defining how we continue to support and enhance downtown Ann Arbor for everyone who lives, works, and visits here.

What does success mean to you?
We define success through several key factors:

The overall impact of our events, including marketing reach, community engagement, and day-of participation.

Foot traffic data, comparing attendance during events to typical days to measure increased activity.

Feedback from our members and residents, ensuring our initiatives align with their needs and expectations.

By analyzing these elements, we continuously refine our efforts to enhance the vibrancy and success of downtown Ann Arbor.
