Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachel Leins.

Hi Rachel, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
Community and climate are at the heart of how 42N Naturals sources ingredients as well as produces the products. We create handcrafted, plant-based skincare products made from local and regionally sourced ingredients. We are committed to sustainable practices throughout our retail storefronts and production to ensure we are positively impacting not only our Michigan communities but also our surrounding Great Lakes states.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The journey has really organic from inception. I’ve listened to my instincts as well as connecting with other businesswomen to ensure I am making informed decisions that maintained a natural, clean product via sustainable practices throughout. It’s been a steep learning curve, but nonetheless, this journey has been uplifting.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My professional career is currently working 13years in the Energy Sector working on carbon reduction in buildings for industry, Serving on Executive Boards including USGBC, BOMA Michiana, West Michigan Sustainable Business Forum, City of St. Joseph Sustainability Committee, & Associate of Energy Engineers.

Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My favorite childhood memory is our family cookouts at my grandmother’s house. I come from a very large Catholic family with 32 first cousins, so every summer, we spent at our grandparent’s house swimming, enjoying games, cookouts, and running through the farm.
