Today we’d like to introduce you to Kyrah Gradford.
Hi Kyrah, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started my journey at 3 years old when my mom officially put me into dance classes. I danced for about 7 years & tried to find a new studio home in the midst of moving around frequently. With little to no success, I joined the Pom/dance team in band. It refueled my love for the sport, therefore I extended my knowledge and went into higher education for dance performance. Since graduating in 2020, I have had the privilege of dancing for both locally and globally known artists. I have also had the privilege of television appearances! Today, my hopes are to continue to excel in my career, while connecting and exchanging stories with others, being inspired while sharing inspiration.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, it has not been a smooth road at all! Some areas are smoother than others, but life knows how to throw curve balls. Navigating anything in your 20’s can be hard especially when there’s so many ways you could go. I remember one of my biggest exit questions from college was “where do you see yourself in 5 years?” I didn’t have a sure answer, I just remember saying “It’s hard to pick because I have a multitude of ways to go. Where should I start?” Working in retail to shifting to entrepreneurship, was a huge obstacle for me, that I am honestly still trying to figure out. From financial issues, relationships, or personal business, there is always more than one thing happening. Sometimes hardship comes with the territory, but finding myself back on solid ground always puts me in a space of gratitude, which gives me a slight of hope to move forward again.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Currently I am in a phase of rebranding and rebuilding, defining my artistry and love for the sport. I was previously most known for my flexibility & grace in movement. I have studied and specialized in ballet, modern, contemporary, jazz, heels, and some hip hop. The thing I find myself most proud of these days is my ability to adapt to changing circumstances & knowing that as life progresses, so do I. I also have accomplished things in my life that I had no idea were going to come to fruition as they did, so it was a shock and building off of that has been a challenge. What I believe sets me apart from others is that I am able to dibble in a pool of possibilities because of my diversity in styles. I’m never afraid to try something new!
Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
People can work with me in person or virtual for private sessions soon! I am able available for work on music video sets, photoshoots, make up collaborations, and guest teaching at studios. To collaborate and support me, I am available on Instagram @kyrah.__
