Check Out Ashley Bashara’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Bashara.

Hi Ashley, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I fell into hairdressing by accident. My career began as a receptionist at a salon. I fell in love with the business side of beauty, and eventually, it grew into training for my license and starting my career as an artist. In the 14 years I’ve spent in the beauty industry I have managed both family-owned and corporate salons, as well as opened my own concept. Fast forward to today I own a Suite with my business partner Lauren and I couldn’t be happier. Every step in my journey has taught me valuable lessons and allowed me to form a deep sense of gratitude for where I am today.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I would definitely not say it has been a smooth road. There have been countless ups and downs from managing and owning salons to branching off on my own. I wouldn’t change any of it because each obstacle has shaped me into the person I am today.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a cosmetologist and specialize in dimensional color and cutting. What I love most about my career is that I get to connect with so many different people. Hairdressing is about more than just cutting hair. We are so lucky that we truly are able to connect with people’s hearts and souls, and I cherish the time I spend with my guests learning about their lives. There’s also this amazing feeling you get when you’re able to create a style that makes people feel authentically themselves. Creating hairstyles has an almost therapeutic effect for me, whether it’s color or cutting.

We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
I have learned that it’s essential to surround yourself with people that respect your time and boundaries. I implement this in both my life and my business. We are all going through a lot, and it’s important to give grace and love through it but also to uphold my boundaries and respect others as well.
