Check Out Andy Ann’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andy Ann. 

Hi Andy, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
Moving back to Detroit from the East coast, I noticed a lack of event spaces that I liked so I created it. It truly started as a potluck-style brunch amongst friends and grew from there. My then goal and current passion is to bring people together over the simple joys of life: good food, music, and laughs 

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Much of the struggle has been maintaining my vision through the change of scenery, economic climate, and now pandemic. Earlier many do not understand the concept of a “bounce brunch” or “brunch party“ as is popular on the East coast. Then once the concept caught on well, we find ourselves in a situation where it was a public health issue to gather in crowds— bummer 

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My passions are indeed food and comedy. I studied TV Production in college and co-created a sketch comedy troupe during my time there as well. Since I have produced several independent skits, done standup, and created my food web series Andy Ann’s Love at First Bite, where I travel the city searching for just that. Sharing the joys of food and comedy are what I am most proud of and sets me apart from others. 

Are there any books, apps, podcasts, or blogs that help you do your best?
Some of the most impactful reads for me have been The Time Keeper by Mitch Albom and Dark Matter by Blake Crouch. In two very different perspectives, both stories left me inspired to do the best with the time and the life I have because time is sacred, and we don’t have the expiration date.
