Rising Stars: Meet Chop Hunter

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chop Hunter.

Hi Chop, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
My dad was a hairstylist, So I’ve always looked up to him and what he did. I would gain interest in hair at 5 years old, by the time I got to elementary I was doing all of my friend in the bathroom before school. I started working in the salon at 14, and eventually went to school to further my education in beauty. I had a son (Keith) which inspired me to do more than just stand behind the chair so I worked hard & was blessed with my very own salon. THE CHOP SHOP! I now service between 15-20 clients a day and my clientele is growing every day! I have a new baby boy (Marquis) and now I am inspired to do even more! I do everything in my life for my kids!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I’ve had hard times, but I never let it break me. I have learned to let them make me.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am Detroit’s Master Shorthairstylist! I also travel to take clients in Brooklyn & Atlanta! I have a special technique that I created for a look that only I can do! My cuts are recognized all around the world! Akbar V came and got her hair done at my salon (The Chop Shop) a few times! This gave me so much inspiration to take my talents to the next level!

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
I started a new podcast! “The Chop Shop w/Chop”! Tune in on Apple Podcast!
