Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa Fisher.
Hi Lisa, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
As a Freshman in High School, we had to do a report on our career choice. We researched the college courses we needed to take, how many credits we would need to graduate with our degree etc. I chose Business Advocate. As you can imagine, life happened and I spent 20+ years after high school raising children and providing for my family.
In 2003, my business partners and I opened the Lansing Keller Williams Franchise. Keller Williams International provided opportunities for coaching and training. After working in our Franchise for 9 years, I subcontracted with Keller Williams International, coaching and training their CFOs and office managers all across the US and Canada.
I have always had a passion for the people in our community. During the recession, I witnessed many businesses closing their doors. In 2016, I made the decision to open my own company to focus on the people in my home State. I began Lisa Fisher Business Training and Coaching and later rebranded to Lisa Fisher Associates.
My mission is to create positive change in the world, coaching and training others to achieve their definition of success.
I focused on networking and meeting local business owners and entrepreneurs. My goal was to connect and conduct a needs analysis identifying what gaps are they looking to fill. With this information, I can create customized programs to meet their needs.
It continues to be an amazing journey. Learning about our local business owners has added to the pride I have for our great state!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I am a firm believer in building business through building relationships. It can take a while to get people to trust in you as well as make a decision to do business with you. It can be a real challenge to reach the decision-makers who will determine if they should hire your services.
Coaching is one of those areas where people are not quite sure how to connect it to business. If they were involved in sports, they had a coach for their team. The role of the coach is to help them maximize their potential. A business coach does the same thing.
I have found the more visible I am in the community, the more value I can bring to others, the quicker my reputation has grown.
Sometimes, you need to get past that stigma, “you can’t be a profit in your own town”. We have a lot of tremendous talent in this community that can help our local businesses develop their current and future leaders in addition to retaining great talent.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I have a library of hundreds of topics to choose from for training others to sharpen their skills in addition to my one-on-one coaching and group coaching programs. My “signature dish” if you will is Time Management, helping others take control of their calendar and focusing on their priorities. Communication is also right up there as a base training.
In addition to the individual topics, I have created a Leadership Certification Program to provide tools and resources for all levels of leadership to equip them to retain talent and increase their job satisfaction. This has really helped with increasing productivity and improving bottom-line profits.
Helping others focus on their priorities has resulted in clients increasing their sales, improving productivity, and retaining their staff. Leadership is action. I help others with the activities to become strong leaders in their profession, their homes, and communities.
Some people define success as making $50,000 a year and spending quality time with their families, others define success as going from an $8,000 month in sales, to $100,000 month in sales. I take pride in asking great questions to determine what path we need to take to get people where they want to go. I am their partner. One of my proudest moments was when a client who owns three businesses said, “you are like a member of our family”.
I think that is what really sets me apart from others.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
One of the most valuable lessons I have learned is to be yourself. Be authentic. I tried so hard in my past to try to train or coach like someone else. “I could just do it like they do…” Little did I know, I was fighting an uphill battle. Once I decided to approach networking, sales, and people as my unique self, a weight lifted off my shoulders and I really began attracting others who wanted to learn more about what services I offered.
As my youngest daughter would say. You do You!!!
