Meet Chonita Nicole

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chonita Nicole. 

Hi Chonita, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I am Chonita Nicole, born and raised in Detroit, MI. I am the mother of Madison Rose who is 9. I am divorced. I am a DREAMER to the core! Hence, my business is called Do Dream On. I am a full-time YouTuber, Content Creator, Photographer, Motivational Speaker, and Business Coach. 

I have my undergrad degree in Electronic Media & Film from Eastern Michigan University, my Master’s Degree in Health Service Administration, and my Teacher’s Certification from Central Michigan University. I became a full-time Crafting YouTube Influencer after being laid off from a Skilled Nursing Facility where I was a director. 

Fast forward, the pandemic hit, and I was at home with my daughter. I kept having issues with unemployment, like so many others, so I had to figure something out quickly. I had a YouTube channel for years; however, I wasn’t consistent and didn’t have a lot of subscribers or views. Pre-Pandemic, I created two FB groups, Dreamy Mamas and Queen Dreamers. I created a planner called ‘A Brunch of Dreamers.’ This planner was the first craft I made from scratch besides t-shirts. Those were the projects that introduced me to crafting. 

I then started producing crafting tutorials on YouTube and became monetized within approximately 2 months. That’s when my life changed! Brands started reaching out to me, my channel grew at a rapid rate, and now I have 47k+ YouTuber subscribers and growing. I have a great community of ‘Dreamers’ who helped me expand my business from YouTube to providing classes. And 1-on-1 consultations. I now help others start businesses, including YouTube channels. YouTube has expanded my business and, quite frankly, changed my life! 

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
HA! Has it been a smooth road? Absolutely not! 

For the first year and a half, I had plenty of sleepless nights. Madison’s father lives out of state, so during the pandemic, it was just her and I quarantined, so I had to tend to my child, homeschool, make products, edit videos, research, create content, etc. And I’m not sure if that sounds easy, but it was not! I also suffered several medical conditions during this time. 

Being that this was my first time being a full-time business owner. I had no idea what I was doing and nobody to tell me what to do. I learned everything on my own. Researching and creating all night as my daughter slept and trying to keep a roof over our heads. Thankfully, everything is working out. I have met a lot of wonderful people along the way. I am constantly learning, growing, and trying to network and collaborate with other creatives. 

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a full-time YouTuber, Content Creator, Photographer, Motivational Speaker, and Business Coach. All of my businesses intertwine with one another in some capacity, and that’s how it works for me. My Business is called Do Dream On, and I help others create their “dream life,” whatever that may look like for them. 

On YouTube, I teach crafting tutorials and provide inspiration, and business tips. 

As a photographer, I take family photos and business photos. 

I am a motivational speaker and business coach. I offer 1-on-1 consultations to help people start new businesses or rebrand and strategize their current business. I also assist helping people with their YouTube channels and social media. 

I specialize in motivating and inspiring people to live life their way, following their dreams despite their circumstances, and creating their dream life. 

I am known for my positive energy and authenticity. I keep it real, and my ‘Dreamers’ respect that. 

I am most proud of showing my daughter that despite unfortunate circumstances, you can turn anything into triumph. You can literally trust God and yourself enough to know that anything is possible if you believe it and put in the work to make it happen. I am able to show my daughter as well as my community that every day I post, every day I have a class or consultation, every day I show up, and every day I dream out loud! 

What sets me apart from others is I embrace my true self, and I show up as her every single day! 

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Passion, discipline, consistency, researching, being educated in my field, being organized (time-blocking), and knowing my target market! I LOVE what I do, and I have so much more in store!
