Today we’d like to introduce you to Carrie Stockwell.
Carrie, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I am a third-generation hairstylist who grew up in the Salon world. I would watch people walk into the salon, as a little girl, with their head down and the pressures of everyday written clearly on their faces. I would then watch magic happen as their mind, body; Spirit transformed before my eyes. They would get so excited for their glossy new hairstyle or hot new cut, but the shift was deeper than that. They took time out of their busy lifestyles to give back to themselves! That experience led me to the beauty industry, and I have been here over 16 years, loving every minute.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The Salon and Spa industry, in my opinion, is one of the most important industries on the planet! I also believe it is one of the most fun and creative industries out there. That has gotten me through every single struggle I have ever experienced along the way!
As you know, we’re big fans of Douglas J. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about the brand?
I absolutely adore Douglas J. I would not work for another company in this industry! It attracts the best people and feels like a family. I am the Regional Director of the Ann Arbor market, with a Salon in Kerrytown and an Institute close to the U of M campus. I am known for being the Queen of bring wellness into everyone’s lives. I love to lead Yoga and Meditation and teach people the importance of Holistic living. Our natural environments put people at ease and create a nurturing space for self-care.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
The characteristics most important to my success have been leading from the Heart and caring deeply about everyone’s success! Inspiring others to live their best, most balances lives is what gets me out of bed in the morning with a smile!
