Hi Moyya, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Becoming a certified lash technician May of 2021. Wanting to begin a new journey after retiring from being a hairdresser; however not wanting to put myself or others at risk during the pandemic. I decided to go the route of lash cleanse and lash strip kit sales. Telling myself that “if the summer didn’t go well that I would somehow go another route.” I began making handmade lash strips to present for sale. I literally sold lash kits anywhere I could. Gas stations, downtown, word of mouth, vendor events, and the trunk of my car. I decided when the summer was over that I would continue and that people found value in what I was offering! I then began ordering through my vendor account lashes in bulk and reached out to the Doordash team to become a partner and merchant. They accepted and loved the idea, now Khi-la-mari Beauty & Wellness can be found on Doordash and is open 24 hours! Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Business for myself has been the bumpiest road I have ever encountered. Integrations of the website was the most difficult for me. I had to build things myself losing lots of sleep along the way. It’s different now; one day it all clicked and started running smoothly. I gave huge sigh of relief as giving up was not an option. 

Thanks for sharing that. Tell us more about you. What are you most proud of?
I’m proud of building something from literally nothing. Starting over can be extremely hard. My children and I were left homeless after being in an abusive relationship that almost ruined everything for us from 2012 to 2016. As a result, I was left permanently disabled which is a struggle daily. Being in that situation left not only myself but my children scarred. So being able to come from such a place and start the business I’ve always wanted was extremely empowering. Showing my children to never give up is what I’m most proud of.
