Today we’d like to introduce you to Gabrielle Wilson.
Hi Gabrielle, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I grew up in a salon for as long as I can remember, since the tender age of 13-14! That makes it 20 years this year!! To be doing something for that long you can’t call it anything else but PASSION! My mom being a licensed manicurist my whole life practically until being diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma when I was 10, ending her nail career. My granddad, which is my mom’s father still owns a salon and is a Master Barber til this day, purchased a salon in 2007 when I was in beauty school. He said, ” Gabby, are you ready?’ I replied, “Yes, I am”. We later opened in 2008! The salon was called The Perfect Blend Hair Studio.
I attended Cosmetology School in 2006 straight out of High School at the age of 17 years old, I’ve been doing hair since around the age of 13-14! Before hair, I had the idea of being a pediatrician; when I got to high school, I said I’m going to become a Hair Dr! I worked at my grandfather’s salon for 9 years building lifelong clientele and learning the business aspects of things, which pushed me into opening up a salon with my husband.
With the knowledge of testing and using over 100 companies’ products, it was time for me to develop my own hair care line. I did not like how other companies’ products treated my client’s hair. I wanted to see luster, I wanted to see movement, I wanted to see volume, I wanted to use oil that didn’t whey the hair down, so I did just that! I created; I created a product for clients to love their own natural hair.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It was a smooth road until COVID-19 hit. I actually had to launch my hair care line worldwide during COVID-19. I’ve always had products available, but I was waiting until the right time to launch. They say it is no such thing as a right time, and now I totally agree! I missed my clients so much during that time.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in Healthy Hair Care and Extensions Installs; I’m known as a hair growth restoration specialist. I’m most proud of my work ethic and growth. What sets me apart from other stylists is that I care for my client’s hair health in the salon and at home. You have to follow a specific regimen to see healthy hair growth results.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
The advice I would give for those just starting out is don’t be scared to push out your dreams and your ideas. There is always someone with the same idea as you; the longer you sit on that idea or that dream the longer it will take for you to manifest that vision. Visions to become reality. Look at me! You have to believe in yourself because when no one else will, you have YOU!
