Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Mobley. Them and their team share their story with us below:
Brittany is the leading partner and Public Relations Specialist of Culturit Public Relations + Design Co., formerly known as Bmobley Media Relations. She received her bachelor’s degree from The University of Memphis and her master’s degree in Public Relations from Full Sail University.
Brittany has worked as a public relations practitioner since 2016. She has secured several media placements, including Fox 2, WXYZ, Crain’s Detroit Business, The Michigan Chronicle, and several others.
After being in the industry and struggling to find helpful mentors, and resources and also landing a decent-paying role in the communications industry, she decided to create a small organization to help bridge the gap between entry-level and veteran publicists. Brittany created Young People in PR in 2018. With this organization, she was able to plan events in Detroit, Atlanta, and Washington, D.C. During these events, millennial and entry-level PR pros were able to meet well-known veteran publicists in their city and create relationships that have helped them advance in the industry.
Brittany is a self-taught graphic and web designer with over 12 years of experience using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and JavaScript. Since 2014, Brittany has worked with several corporate companies, that has allowed her to expand her skillset to obtain clients on her own. Her work history includes General Electric, Gift of Life Michigan, Detroit Development Fund, and The Association of Women in Communications, among others.
Brittany currently serves as a liaison between businesses and their visual and strategic messaging for their brands foundation, preparing them to potentially obtain public relations representation. With this expertise, Brittany has been able to lead her business, Culturit PR and Design Co., into a six-figure brand. In addition to Brittany running her business full-time as a publicist and designer, she also works as a media relations specialist at Eastern Michigan University, securing placements to benefit the overall brand of the University.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been a smooth road. Some of the struggles are the reason I’m able to hold on to my go-getter mentality. I’ve been with mentors who had no interest in helping me. Finding my first job was a bit difficult, and being able to secure clients had also been a challenge in the past. However, I decided to keep going and trust myself in the process. With a lot of hard work and diligence, I improved my craft. I had to find avenues that allowed me to make mistakes and learn from there, which included working with mentors, and college professors, obtaining my degree, and a lot of networking.
