Today we’d like to introduce you to 7Letter G.
Hi 7Letter, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I began to notice my interest in music around the age of 7 years old. My grandfather played the bass guitar, my father is a singer, and my older brother is also an artist. As a child, I witnessed those moments and it drew me even closer to the craft of music, mainly the art of rap music. At the age of 16 was my first time stepping foot into a professional studio, and that moment is where my dedication to my music and craft began professionally.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It has been a long road coming. Struggles I’ve dealt with are finding my true sound and niche, being consistent, having belief and faith in the process, and believing in myself before anyone who hears my music does. Lastly, resources and being from Detroit seems to make it hard to stand out and get the recognition I feel I deserve.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Although my first love is music, I’d like to establish myself as a businessman first. I picked up other skills in this journey along the way; such as starting my own clothing line “Dondada Apparel LLC”, real estate, and investing into forex. I specialize in hard work and being well-rounded within all my crafts.
I am known for my music, being persistent, and getting my brand more established.
I am most proud of myself for not quitting when I have felt like quitting, and also my fans who motivated me to keep going when I didn’t want to continue.
Ownership, reading, and studying up on the specific industries I am in set me apart from a lot of other people because I want to learn everything myself rather having a middleman. For example, producing my own music and designing my own clothing line from scratch.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I see the industry catering to independent artists, who took it upon their selves to master their niche and marketing their music to their fans, without the help of a record label in the beginning of their careers. A major shift I can imagine is the structure of contracts being presented to upcoming artists and newer artists, being the main focus of the industry.
