Rising Stars: Meet Stephanie Starr

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Starr.

Hi Stephanie, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I got where I am today by trial and error. I didn’t do everything right, but God has helped steer me in the right direction. After high school, I had various retail jobs (which I enjoyed) because I sincerely love people. I know that’s why I flourished in roles that allowed me to service my customers personally. I attended college after high school and again in my 20’s and 30’s. However, I never completed a degree. I married my husband Brian in 2010, and then my life took some very traumatic turns.

Six months into my marriage, my mom passed, and 14 months later, one of my dearest friends Dannielle, passed as well. Growing up in church I knew to pray and seek God for help, but I was so broken. Only a few years into marriage so much had already happened to challenge us. I began to pursue a desire for makeup artistry, and simultaneously, Brian and I started the journey of growing our family. After years of trying and a lot of waiting nothing seemed to be working.

The medical world calls it infertility, and despite the waiting, and physical setbacks, I believe it’s only a matter of time before we’re able to become parents. As women, we’re faced with many points to navigate, but I certainly didn’t expect this to be one of ours.

Then came 2018, the year that I know birthed what I’m doing now. This year met us (specifically me) with so many obstacles. Surgery, and a bad car accident, are just a few of the difficulties that I faced including overwhelming feelings of hopelessness, anger, and bitterness. I was so taxed. I felt so depleted, yet as God helped me, all I wanted to do was help others in return. There was a time that I considered 2018 one of the worst years of my life, but I know it’s also the year that catapulted my blog, my YouTube channel, and just the heart I have to encourage and help others through hard things (while sharing my passion of fashion, styling, and makeup).

Whether it’s on my channel, through my blogs, or on IG, I enjoy being a transparent storyteller because I know by sharing my story, I’m able to help someone else just like me.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Not at all. I think that because I’ve encountered very real challenges, such as managing the ebb and flow of grief and disappointment, it has only allowed me to want to help others along these same paths.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
By day I’m an Early Childhood Education teacher. Which means I teach littles. It’s never a dull moment. Most that know me to know that I have a keen eye for fashion and style. As well as being an MUA who specializes in natural beauty artistry.

I am proud of being willing to do the hard work. Despite many failures, I’m still here. I could be so many other places, doing far worse things, but I am alive and well. Happily married, pursuing the desires of my heart by starting the process of writing a book (no one really knows this yet), and positioning myself to serve others whomever they are, as best I can.

I hope what sets me apart is my desire to see others succeed through hard things. Many things come and go, and then we’re left to just figure things out, but no one has to do it alone.

What was you like growing up?
I wasn’t the smartest student, but I was (and still am) known for my outgoing personality. I’m definitely the one who hasn’t met a stranger and try my best to just treat people right. As a believer, I think I should be someone that isn’t just kind but approachable.

Growing up I was never known as a popular girl, if anything I was well-known for being kind. I wish I would’ve pursued tennis growing up. My aunt once paid for me to have tennis lessons and I loved it. I mean I loved it so much.
