Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristy Peacock.
Kristy, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
When I was a Senior in high school, I co-oped at the local flower shop in my hometown of St. Louis. I started out by working in the greenhouses and then moved into the design room to learn the artistry of floral design. Throughout my 20 and 30’s, I worked at several different shops in Mid-Michigan. Many times, I left the floral industry, just to return. In 2014, I opened Pretty As A Peacock Flowers and Gifts in Merrill. I love being able to create and personalize floral arrangements; whether it is for a wedding, funeral, get-well, birthday, or just because. There is so much joy in the smell, colors, and textures of flowers.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
As with anything, there are always struggles. Covid has been our biggest hurdle. From the lockdown to the shortages of supplies and flowers, and currently inflation.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Unique, custom, and personalized arrangements are my favorite. Whether it be wedding, sympathy, or just because. I love being able to bring a client’s vision to life with flowers.
