Today we’d like to introduce you to Jermaine Golden.
Hi Jermaine, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
In 2018 I was fired from Chase Bank after working there for nearly 3 years. At the time I wasn’t sure what I was going to do. I was in the middle of Producing a Movie at the time and I thought I was going to go down that path of focusing on my Film career more. I have always wanted to get into Real Estate but I couldn’t while working at Chase Bank because it was a conflict of interest for the company. In 2018 I decided to finally dive into Real Estate. I ended up taking my classes in one week and passed my state exam 3 weeks later. Around the time I started doing Real Estate I started a new job as a Banker at Michigan First Credit Union. I lasted working at that company for 60 days. I decided to take a leap of faith and quit my job to focus on my Real Estate career more. While I was working on building my Real Estate business, I needed to make some money so I worked for DTE Energy part-time where I can make my own hours at the mall and on the weekends, I would drive for Uber as well. During this time, I would use every moment to take classes, study the business, and network anywhere and everywhere I went. It took me 6 months to close my first deal. During my first year, I was on a Real Estate team and took the time to learn more about the business and making sure I stayed on top of my game. After a year and a half in the business, I decided to start my own Real Estate team. I currently have 10+ agents on my team and I have sold over 200 homes and have done over $20 Million in sales volumes. I have won many awards as a Top Producing agent, 2 of which were ICON Agent Award.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has had this ups and downs during my career. As an agent that has to only worry about myself and my own business, it wasn’t that bad. But as a team leader over a team of other Real Estate agents, it has had its challenges. My first year with my team I had to learn a lot and work out many kinks. I have lost agents off my team and had more join as well. But it’s all a part of the business and growing as time goes on. My failures has made me a better leader and being able to recognize areas I need to improve in to be a better leader to those on my team. I’m always learning more each and every day.
I recently expanded my Real Estate team to Georgia’s Market. We are excited about growing the team and the business more in a different market. We have our top agent Janee Pope down there laying down the foundation for the team.
As you know, we’re big fans of The Golden Realty Team. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I am a licensed Real Estate Agent in the State of Michigan and also the Owner of a Real Estate Team called The Golden Realty Team powered by Exp Realty. We help Buyers, Sellers, and Investors purchase and sell homes in the Metro Detroit Area. At our team, we make sure every single one of our clients experience Real Estate with Golden Excellence.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Yes, one of the biggest advices for anyone that’s getting into Real Estate is build your database and organize your systems. My first couple of years of doing Real Estate I treated my business like a hustle and not like a business. And now I’m backtracking with everything to get everything organized. Making sure you have systems in place from the beginning can save you so much time. And you will create a business that’s going to last long and not just for a season. I cannot stress enough the importance of having a system in place.
