Check Out TheeMittenPrincess’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to TheeMittenPrincess.

Hi TheeMittenPrincess, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started my journey becoming TheeMittenPrincess by taking back the power I once gave to so many people, people who didn’t care for me or themselves nonetheless. As a little girl, I would watch American idol or the voice and dream of one day being on a stage singing my little heart out, but I stopped having the confidence to truly allow myself to believe it could one day be me. Instead, I dimmed my light so that others could shine simply because I internalized the hate and ignorance people closest to me would spew, I gave my talent, my power, my voice away and in return, I lost myself. I battled harsh trying battles with my mental health I secluded myself into a digestible shell as to not disturb the balance of my very unstable household forgetting my passion to sing, to rap, to entertain. Fortunately, after years of hard work, I was able to begin to find myself & my voice and I use it to help others find theirs. Whether you are plus size, LGBTQ+, or simply just not society’s norm I want everyone to feel understood, valued, powerful, confident. And most of all loved. So yeah, that’s how I became TheeMittenPrincess by taking back the power I was born into from the people who couldn’t stand my light.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Absolutely not, being a public figure, entertainer, small-town artist is not for the faint of heart. Especially if you’re battling against mental health issues. Putting yourself out there after years of trying your best to hide isn’t easy. You have to retrain your mind completely on top of that you’re dealing with so many outside opinions being dissected by people you’ve never met a day in your life, trying to find your place in the music industry while also doing your best to avoid the people who only see you as a quick come up. One specific thing I’ve dealt with in this field is the popularity contest, having my music being copied and being told to hush simply because the artist in question had a bigger platform than me has to be the most hurtful thing I’ve probably dealt with so far. I put my soul into my music, my pain, my lessons, my blessings, and for it to not be respected is something I just simply haven’t gotten used to yet.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a local Lansing artist/rapper/ alternative model as well as a social media influencer. I’m known for the heavy-hitting music I make, my stance on body positivity my bold outfits, and my ability to switch it up as well as my strong voice and opinions, if we’re speaking on what I’m most proud of, outside of my music it would have to be the person that I have become, and the women that I am becoming as I get better every day my content will reflect that and in turn, I’ll be able to help more people find themselves. As for what sets me apart from the rest. I am unapologetically me. Self-aware. and always growing, I bring a fresh new stance to the music industry that isn’t just about my physical appearance bags & clothes, though I do never miss a chance to stunt. I bring real messages to the masses and I do it with real love and real passion.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
The memory of my childhood isn’t easily accessible to me but I do recall there being a time when life was peaceful and family felt like family. I miss that.
