Meet Victoria Peters

Today we’d like to introduce you to Victoria Peters. 

Hi Victoria, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Tye Dye By Tori started in San Diego California in 2020. What started as a little home project turned into a full-blown business. I quickly realized I was actually very good at tie-dye and with my background in design, color combos came easily to me. We specialize in just about everything dyed and bleached, from home goods to apparel. All of our items are customized by hand, we believe color should be used in unconventional ways. Our color combos are far from your conventional tie-dye. We strive to bring out the truest potential and purest color in each and every piece. In 2021 I relocated to Fredericksburg Virginia. In 2022 I expanded the brand and added Tempt. Tempt by TDBT is a curated collection of everything we love from other small businesses. Everything is hand-selected and sourced by myself. Tempt is nostalgic, moody, and humorous. We do pop-up events, wholesale distribution, private events, workshops, & have our online store. 

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Overall, TDBT has been a pretty smooth path. I truly believe when you are doing what you should in life, things will go in your favor. Relocating and still maintaining my relationships with my California audience has been interesting, but completely doable. I was terrified moving would not be in TDBT’s favor, however, it increased my audience and gave me the customers and brand awareness to expand. 

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I own Tye Dye By Tori. We specialize in just about everything dyed and bleached, from home goods to apparel. We also carry other small business brands under Tempt. I love what I do. When it comes to tie-dye it gives the creativity I need and the freedom to manage my own schedule and work from home. I have always been a creative person and being able to zone out me create beauty other people love is amazing. My colors are unconventional for tie-dye. I have a background in design, and I think that helps me create the color concepts I come up with. Some color combos are muted and neutral and others are a bit brighter and poppy. I am so proud of what I have created and I am so proud that with Tempt I can help showcase and spread awareness for other small businesses. 

What would you say has been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
When you aren’t looking for something, you’ll find what it was that was missing. I truly believe when you find that thing that you should be doing it will just work. I’m not saying it’s not hard, it is hard, and you have to work, but all the work won’t feel like work.
