Daily Inspiration: Meet Robere Lett

Today we’d like to introduce you to Robere Lett.

Hi Robere, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was always into art from a very young age. I loved drawing and painting anything to do with being creative. My journey started after high school when I attended Michigan State University as an art major and hated it, not the school but the curriculum. I left after two years and started my career with Michigan Bell Telephone Company, where I still am today- AT&T! A dear friend and co-worker knew I was very much into fashion during that period; she introduced me to her best friend, a master seamstress. I began studying fashion design, tailoring, and pattern making. With her guidance, I was able to start my first design studio specializing in womenswear; after a few years, I segued into wardrobe styling at the behest of my mentor fashion model Bobbi Bradley.

Bobbi and I created Les Artiste, a styling agency where we worked on fashion projects for several major companies and brands across the United States. I worked successfully as a stylist for many top-tier clients and brands, taking me from Detroit to New York, LA, Toronto, Paris, London, and Tokyo. Broadening my experiences exponentially, working for several local brands such as K-Mart, Jacobson’s, Crowley, and Winkelman’s department stores. After 20+ years as a stylist, I took over and helped rebuild Affiliated Group Models as part of the prestigious Gail-Rice Production company. The opportunity to run a talent agency gave me a vast experience in model development and talent management, again allowing me to work on many projects across the country. Developing Haute Entertainment Group and Haute Models + Talent Agency along with Haute is Online Magazine was an extension of everything I culminated from my experiences in the industry.

HEG is a full-service model, talent, and entertainment agency www.hauteentertainmentgroup.com, HMT is the modeling agency www.Hautemgmt.com and the magazine www.Hauteisonline.com is a fashion, beauty, and lifestyle publication produced by a crew of fashion fanatics from Detroit. We strive to create captivating imagery while engaging the latest in what’s new and what’s trending; Haute is Online Magazine delivers an insider’s view into the world of high-fashion living – and the art of being beautiful.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Building a business is never easy; whether it’s a beginning start-up or an already existing business that needs to be revamped and rebranded the struggle is real. As a small minority company, it can be even harder. Capital and funding are always major obstacles that often keep our business from growing and prospering. I was lucky to have partners along with the ability to raise the capital needed to start HEG without compromising our core level of excellence.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Fashion is my passion and all of the manifestations that go with it. I created Haute is… Online Magazine as a labor of love and a way of telling fashion, beauty, and lifestyle stories about people and entities I admire and respect. Being creative is vital, and telling a great story that allows our readers to immerse themselves in that person’s journey. I believe everyone has a story, but how you tell that story is the key. The process is also crucial in our digital media and marketing roles. We lead our clients to discover their voice and brand awareness to take them to the level of achievement they desire.

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
We are always looking at collaborative opportunities to work with other creatives and business-minded people, especially the youth. We look at internships, mentoring opportunities, and speaking engagements where we have the chance to speak about our business and how others can start or be a part of a company’s brand and strategies.

Having young minds is essential to the growth of any business, even if you think your business only serves a specific sector or age demographic. Shifts occur at some point, and if your business is still relevant, it is because that company understood where, when, and how that shift will happen and how to react and cater to a new and diverse business clientele. In closing I would like to add a much deserved THANK YOU to my partners Nadia Sellers and LaVonne Trent, because without their continued support and dedication none of this would exist!
