Today we’d like to introduce you to Bobby Fritze. Them and their team share their story with us below:
Bobby Fritze and his wife, Kay, are a husband-and-wife photo and production team living in southeast Grand Rapids with their two dogs, Jack and Lulu, two cats, Mojo and Milo, and their daughter Angelina. They studied at the University of Colorado College of Arts & Media and Brooks Institute in Ventura, respectively. In the early 2000s, they began photographing professionally and have now expanded to include product photography, social media marketing, graphics, and web design with in-house teams, external agencies, and remote contracts.
Michigan provides a gorgeous landscape true to the “Water-Winter Wonderland” name, reminiscent of their hometowns in Colorado and California. In their spare time, they enjoy backyard gardening, dining out for sushi and Latin American cuisine, Legos, crocheting, and revisiting the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Life can be a series of unfortunate events; we believe the trick is to balance perspective and progress toward goals. We bought our first condo the same month we had a major career shift and four years later, we got married the same day 2020 went into full effect, furloughs, and quarantines notwithstanding.
In much the same way that Bobby relocated to California in 2014 upon accepting a job offer in marketing for the wine industry, Kay accepted an opportunity to advance her full-time career in digital dental implant design by moving here to Michigan.
Undoubtedly, there are more blessings and successes than struggles. So, though the road is bumpy, it’s quite beautiful from a 30,000-foot view.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Our work dates back to almost 20 years ago, producing photo and video work for local athletes, actors, models, and musicians. Now in 2022, Fritze Media is a unified brand for the former freelance DBA names of Bobby Fritze Marketing and KMB Photo Love. We are most known for social media and online community-building, engagement, earned/owned media production, and the occasional headshot, family portrait, and puppy photo session.
What matters most to you? Why?
What matters most to us can be summed up in a single word: Craftsmanship. From cooking and gardening at home to building websites and retouching photoshoots in post, our aim is to develop new techniques and capabilities and apply them to the fullest in every task. It is the core driver of our work and what we look for in the work of others. Our perspective is that craftsmanship encompasses the esthetics, design, construction, and attention to detail that produce great work.
