Meet Gary Crenshaw

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gary Crenshaw. 

Gary, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My name is Gary Crenshaw I’m from the westside of Detroit Fenkell and Meyers to be exact. I’m a father first and foremost I started filming in 2014, with an iPhone 7. I Attended La Film School. My first movie I acted in and co-directed was Betrayal 1& 2 I’ve always wanted to film movies since I was 8 years old. my favorite movie then was the hulk. I use to watch the making of movies, and deleted scenes before I would watch the actual movie just to see how they made it and the bloopers. In 2018 I Started Gr8tlakes Motion Pictures And began filming my first project that I Wrote, directed, and also had a main role “Coming Of age” which was released December 15, 2019. One year later I followed up with Coming of age 2 which are available on Tubi and Amazon Prime. That same year I went on to release a book on Thanksgiving called “Triangle Of Love” which is available on Amazon Kindle. I link with a new business partner by the name of Devon Graham who owns Ikonik Temple. I co-directed his film which is called “Jealous” on Tubi and Amazon Prime. We recently just completed my current Project entitled “Bond Money” which is set to release in May of 2022. I also Own a Construction Company by the name of “Crenshaws Construction”. 

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I’ve been blessed I will say that, but just like anything in life there’s going to be ups and downs. I had to replace people, I lost a good friend that I gained during my film journey RIP TopSyde, I Had my movie removed and put back up, lost friends that I thought loved me and etc. . I also had some run ins with the law. But by Keeping God first and putting all my faith and trust in him Everything Worked out in his favor so I always give God the Glory through any storm I face. 

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I write, produce, direct, and also act. My production company name is Gr8tlakes Motion Pictures. I’ve produced 3 films, and co- directed and directed 4 movies. I have a Book called “Triangle of love” which is on Amazon Kindle. What sets me aside from others is the fact that I like to see growth in people, I like new faces on the scene. That’s What keeps me going when I get new people every day either saying they seen me in a movie or asking to be a part of the next film, that lets me know I’m doing something right and giving opportunity to everyone. 

What does success mean to you?
I define success based off your goal sheet. Everyone in life doesn’t have the same goals, so for some buying a new car and home could be their goals after they do it, they feel real happy about themselves that success when you’re happy about completing your goals.
