Rising Stars: Meet Michael Mcclain

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Mcclain.

Hi Michael, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started my brand by reading a magazine about Bape when I was 16. Didn’t know much about streetwear, it was the year 2005. I basically dropped out of school at this point and read this magazine one night at my dad’s house and magic the birth of prassumo. The name was originally Rassumo but a family member told me that wasn’t it so they told me to use a P since my favorite high fashion brand is Prada, I drew my original ideas on paper I didn’t know about Adobe or photoshop. When I finished job corps, I had a book filled with ideas concepts, and the essence of what prassumo could be. Left my original ideas at my ex-house but I was still l creating here and there when I worked on a cruise ship. Met a kid name Christopher Horstman he one day saw my drawing book of ideas and clothes by this time it was 2009, Chris did fully hip me to streetwear and I’m buying crooks and castles, hundreds, fresh jive, and many more brands. He saw my book again but he fully pays attention to it this one day and told me I can do streetwear. I was skeptical cause I was working and didn’t know the skills I know today Chris took my drawings printed shirts then gave me the money it was 1,300 the full amount he didn’t make a dime and said this what you can make off your ideas f*ck work lol …. it popped a light bulb but work and other things distracted me but I started to get serious meeting up with store owners in Hawaii cause at this time I was living in Hawaii so fashion was easy to obtain and develop but I had a job. I learned you can’t work for two masters eventually one will fold so my job did I left Hawaii and met back up with a friend in 2012 and met a great mentor whose name is Chris. s and here is the prassumo clothing company you have today

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Nope, it hasn’t been a smooth road but what’s easy nothing in life if your heart in it your reward will come. I lost friends family relationships hard drives and more for my brand went broke before but I love what joy I bring so I can’t complain it has its ups and downs

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I try to do 20 designs whether it’s cad work or logos and pieces for my brand. Can’t say what I specialize in because I try to learn every aspect of my craft which is streetwear, I feel I’m still a student. What I’m known for is my streetwear brand( presume)- this suppose to be prassumo and what I’m most proud of is me finally getting to sell my product and get my flowers as a brand been a long road. What sets me apart is honestly nothing I feel I’m equal to them I’m just trying to put my mark on Detroit fashion and bring organic street presents and vibe to the main stage of Michigan fashion.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
I want to give a shout out to my mother and my father give a shout out to my friend Chris who pushed me and my new mentor ZahQ goode and partner Antwoine gnat please follow me on Ig Prassumo.
