Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Gray.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I was a single mom of twins working 60+ hours a week at a local utility company. At that time, I had made too much money for state assistance but was barely making it to pay for childcare every week for two children. I had to work the hours in order to survive. I would leave the house early and get home late, barely spending time with the twins while they were awake. One day the sitter texted me and told me that my son had spoken his first word… The sitter’s name.
I was excited and heartbroken at the same time. I knew right then and there I had to make a change. I had to find something that would allow me to be more present in their early stages of life and still make a sustainable income. I needed a career change.
Prior to working at the utility company, I had gone to Massage Therapy School at Flint School of Therapeutic Massage in Flint, MI. At that time, I had received my Massage License through the state of Michigan. I had been a massage therapist for a few years after my schooling but I never felt fulfilled. I always felt like something was missing. Clients would feel good during the massage but it would never address the underlying problem nor would the “feel good” last.
It’s amazing when you step out into faith, things really do work together for the good. I had spoken out loud exactly what I needed and within the week I had an opportunity to apprentice with the very best in the massage industry here in Michigan learning Functional Neuromuscular Activation Therapy. Clients were experiencing change and lasting results. They felt amazing after their treatments. I instantly fell in love with the process.
This was just the start of my small business.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Any time you venture out into something new and unknown there will always be obstacles and challenges. For me, it was the fear of not being able to provide for my children on my own or not watching them grow up because I was too busy working. It was a scary moment in time for me while transitioning from a full-time job to an apprenticeship. But at the same time, that fear I experienced not seeing my kids growing up & missing out drove me to keep doing better for them. I had to work hard.
When you’re on the right path there will always be something that will try to distract you. This is what defines the course of your path. It steers you in the right direction. For me, the challenge was to find a career that I loved, be with the twins more, and could financially support them all on my own. If you are finding yourself in a similar situation, my advice to you is… Trust the process and move forward.
My twins just turned 12. I love going into the office every day. I still work a lot but I’m able to be flexible and available when the twins need me. I’m able to provide financially for them and we are living our best lives.
Remedy FNMT is growing and expanding into chiropractic offices (our treatments are a great addition to chiropractic care) and we could not be more excited. Right now, we have 3 therapists and 1 additional location. By the end of the year, we hope to acquire 4 more chiropractic locations and add 4-6 additional therapists to our team.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?

What was your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite childhood memory is driving around town with my grandma, eating an ice cream cone with the radio turned up, and listening to old-school country music with the windows down.
