Today we’d like to introduce you to Chris Forte.
Hi Chris, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
It all started on a November blizzard day in 2017. After my yoga class, I went across the street for a smoothie. While I was sitting there a young man walked in with a box of bars dropping them off to the owner. I asked the young man (Chef Jay) if I could try one. After I tried it, I was amazed how wonderful it tasted. The Chef and I walked in the blizzard to my car as I heard his story. Once we got to my car, we exchanged books (we are both authors). 24 hrs. later I went out to see him and his fiancé and we formed a partnership. I can fill in more details when we talk. Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No such thing as a smooth road in this business. It’s a journey. As in any journey, there are struggles along the way. Our mantra from the beginning take it ” one bar at a time.”
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’ve always been an entrepreneur. The reason I chose this path in the beginning was to make a lot of money. What I realized is that money isn’t what brings happiness it’s freedom. Freedom to be your authentic true self. I view myself as a spiritual entrepreneur and believe if you operate in truth all will unfold as it needs to be. Part of this spiritual journey led me to write a book called The Humble Warrior- spiritual tools for living a purposeful life. Once this book was published Why Bars came into my life and our foundation is based on spiritual law.
What sets Why Bars apart is purpose. In a market that is saturated with snack bars our bars truly separate ourselves from the rest with our taste, our simple ingredients, and our purpose- 3 hour of fuel. Meaning our bars will curb your appetite up to three hours.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
The advice on mentoring or networking is to surround yourself or reach out to people that have accomplished things during the journey that you want to accomplish. What has worked for me is to reach out to other founders of bars companies that have had successful exits or one that continue to grow their business/brand
