Rising Stars: Meet Robyn Ladwig of Jackson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Robyn Ladwig.

Robyn, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started about eight years ago when I was gifted a paint set. I really just wanted to teach myself how to paint as a hobby but quickly became obsessed with learning every genre of art. When I came across using epoxy resin in art, I decided to figure out how I could do a realistic beach scene using real sand and found objects. The process took a while to master but I had fun with each and every mistake and win. When I found a pendant bezel at a local store, I made five necklaces and had great feedback with family and friends. It was then that I decided to create a business. Now, my jewelry line is in over fifty stores nationwide, the art is in several galleries, as well as on three wine bottles.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road to where I am today hasn’t been necessarily rough. I’ve had fun with the whole learning process. As far as the stores for the jewelry line, you win some and lose some, but it only means that the ones that choose to carry my line are the ones that are meant to be.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am an epoxy resin artist that specializes in realistic ocean beach scenes… a bird’s eye view of the coastline. I am known for recreating the colors of each waterway. I am most proud of my tenacity in being a completely self-taught artist. I also have an inquisitive nature that has been an asset to my work.

I’d say that what sets me apart of others is my process. There are many ways to achieve the look, however, I employ many different techniques with products to achieve a depth to my work.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
One of my supporters has been my friend Sheryl. She contacted me out of the blue one day and wanted to have an art show for me. It was my very first one and has led to many more along the way in different states.
