Meet Garrison Briggs

Today we’d like to introduce you to Garrison Briggs.

Hi Garrison, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I moved to Detroit from Grand Ledge, Michigan almost 5 years ago. I was traveling to the city so often for its music scene, I decided to move.

Detroit is where my love for music became my passion. I began DJing about 3 years ago and in that time, I’ve played in just about all of the iconic spots ranging from the Orange Room to Hart Plaza.

I transferred to Wayne State University and graduated in the spring of 2021 with a degree in Communication Studies and Music Technology.

This city has also given me the opportunity to professionally model. Through the connections I have made from the club scene here, I have walked in fashion shows and worked with local brands and artists for promotional campaigns.

I am currently working in fashion production and producing music as a hobby. I hope to one day put out my own my music and design clothing.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Time management is the biggest struggle. I work my day job to support myself and then will work through the night to support my dreams. It feels like the grind can never stop and I’ll have to remind myself it’s okay to take a minute to sit still.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
As a day job, I work in a print shop where I produce the Owners’ original designs. I work with clothing, jewelry, and ceramic.

What I specialize in is DJing. The music I play is techno/electro/breakbeats/DNB – and what sets me apart is my taste and energy. It’s fast, it’s sexy, it’s gay, it’s experimental, and it’s a party.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Being my authentic self. Something RuPaul has said that lives with me is “Know your brand and deliver it 24/7”.
