Community Highlights: Meet Jessica Yount of Face Fusion Skin Studio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Yount. 

Hi Jessica, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
A true “started from the bottom” situation. I created my business from nothing and I have watched it grow into something that serves a purpose, and that is the most rewarding feeling ever. As a teen who struggled with Cystic Acne and being placed on Accutane, and other prescriptions from a Dermatologist, all of which provided little to no relief and resolution for my acne, I knew there had to be a different solution. As a young adult, I found myself always researching various conditions of the skin. A hidden passion I would later learn existed. 

My young adult life took a different turn and hospitality became the career path of choice. But as a mother, I soon quickly learned how rigorous and exhausting being a General Manager really was and desperately needed a change. 

6 years ago, while scrolling Instagram, I stumbled upon a woman who was out of New Jersey, she was healing people’s skin with the use of facials and natural herbs and botanicals. I was intrigued. Mind blown to say the least at that moment, I learned what an Esthetician was. A word I had never heard before. 

I immediately began looking for a school near me and within a few short months, I was enrolled as a part-time student at Douglas J Aveda. Within 6 months I graduated and passed the Michigan State Boards. 

I began working at a local Day Spa as well as a local Med Spa. I learned a great deal working at both places, but ultimately new I needed to fulfill a calling far deeper than basic facials, lasers, Coolsculpting, and waxing. 

So began the birth of Face Fusion Skin Studio. The fusion of education and professional treatments, the fusion of ancient and modern techniques, the fusion of professional and herbal, and the fusion of skin and soul. 

Face Fusion Skin Studio focuses on the skin with an inside-out approach. Finding the root cause of my client’s biggest skin concerns and conditions. Together with my clients we look at all aspects of their life and create a Bespoke skincare plan, that ultimately gives my clients the tools needed for long-lasting healthy skin. 

I will always strive to be the professional, educated, and passionate Esthetician my clients deserve. 

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I don’t believe in smooth roads. How else do we grow unless faced with obstacles? The Pandemic has been for lack of a better phrase, a huge learning curve. As a business owner who provides a service, the pandemic taught my business needs an additional stream of income that does not rely on my physical being to perform a service. 

The months when we couldn’t have clients during the pandemic was a huge struggle. But Face Fusion overcame the hurdle and fortunately is still growing and thriving now more than ever.
