Daily Inspiration: Meet Tulika Garg Bhatia

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tulika Garg Bhatia. Them and their team share their story with us below:

She comes from a family of professionals where education is given utmost importance. Her father was the CEO of a large Indian conglomerate, mother a housewife and 2 sisters.

Her journey started when she graduated in Bsc. Statistic Honors from Delhi University’s Lady Shri Ram College for Women, one of the most well-respected and competitive education institutions in the country. She balanced her academic achievements with her commitment to give back to those around her. She taught several visually challenged children at Institution for visually challenged for over 2 years by helping them learn Mathematics and English to graduate their high school.

As she had always dreamt of moving up the corporate ladder and becoming the CEO of a company, just like her father she went on to do her MBA from IMT Ghaziabad, again one of the top 10 Business schools in India. And with that she successfully launched herself into the corporate world and got an opportunity to work with some of the best MNCs like HSBC Bank & American Express India.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Far from smooth but rewarding in every form possible. My journey with SOROR – The Sisters Edit has helped me grow as a human / as an individual / personal growth has been a steep upward curve. To list a few challenges on the journey:

1. Setting up a company outside of my home country

2. Setting up a website, doing market research then bake customer feedback into the website design and tech behind the same.

3. Quickly learning the ever-changing social media world.

4. Biggest convincing people to write their life experiences, believe in themselves, and help other grow.

More and more of us need to be confident about:

• Expressing ourselves publicly,

• Talking about our achievements without fear of “bragging”,

• Sharing our story with the world, no matter how “non-motivating”

• Promoting our skillsets, ideas, and mindset.

After all, we are our own brand ambassadors. If we don’t promote ourselves, who will?

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am daughter, wife, mother and now founder CEO of SOROR – THE SISTERS EDIT…

I firmly believe, motivation is a force, that can drive us to heights, we never thought we could reach. We constantly underestimate the weightage of our unique experiences and knowledge in life. The things that are reachable and easy for you to attain could be someone else’s most significant battle. You really don’t have to be a big CEO or business guru to motivate people around you.

As someone who’s been a part of the corporate rat race and now an entrepreneur, I have seen first-hand how we women are natural multitaskers; we collaborate and have this unique ability of forging meaningful alliances.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Keep at it, it’s a bumpy road but its soul satisfying. If you are doing it with passion to satisfy your creative juices and you life goal, then every small step matters and is worth your time and effort.

I will not sugarcoat it by saying it gets easier, it never get easier but it’s worth the fight. But keep your eyes and ears open to customer feedback, listen, process and try applying it where possible. Not all suggestions are valid suggestions but you must keep an open mind to constructive criticism.

Anything you wish you knew when you were starting out?
Grow a thick skin.

Don’t feel shy of asking help from friends and family, but don’t bank on it. Life is testing each one of us on multiple fronts and hence they might not be able to carve out the time needed.
