Check Out Karl Gooden’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Karl Gooden.

Hi Karl, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Brooklyn born n raised, my mom decided she wanted to actually own a house which is hard in NY. So, in 2014 she bought a house in Boston Edison outright for $40,000. So, it was real estate opportunities that brought me to Michigan and it was my own observation of there being room to grow here that made me stay. I moved out on my own November 2020 and started my CharlieGtv brand about a year later. Eventually, I plan to have a property I’ll call CharlieGtv Production house where I’ll have a music studio a photoshoot studio and a podcast studio to help me and other creators make great content and help raise Detroit’s profile in the words eye.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Well, my mom’s car was hit and run twice right in front of her house in Boston Edison, that was a big setback. Also, November 20th, 2020, due to working 70hours a week with little sleep I fell asleep while driving home from work and I flipped my car and broke my neck. Almost dying made me rethink my life and gave me the wakeup call I needed to start my brand and monetize my crazy self lol. And a few other challenges but such is life.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I currently work at a door factory on the production line. I label the doors and do quality control checks on the doors. I also build pallets pretty fast. Pretty simple job but it pays well enough and they let me dance n play my music while I work so I’m a happy camper.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
Well, I suppose my car crash was lucky and unlucky. Lucky because I now know what I want to do with my life and that gives me new purpose and energy every day. Chasing your dreams is a thrill ride all of its own. N the crash was unlucky cuz it left me with a $14,000 hospital bill.
