Life & Work with Jessica Princinsky

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Princinsky.

Hi Jessica, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Where to begin? I purchased my first DSLR camera in 2012 and photography quickly became a hobby. My photography was not taken as seriously back then, and I spent a lot of time within the last ten years trying to find my purpose as if it would jump out at me. I have worked in many different fields, from being a hairdresser to becoming a teacher, overwhelmed by all the possibilities that I locked myself into a corner from indecision. I barely had a job after ten years of searching and I pulled out my old DSLR thinking that it might help pay the bills. Before I knew it, I was searching for opportunity, creating a brand, and cultivating a business that I believe in. Looking back on it now, it’s amazing how far I’ve come.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Without a doubt. There have been numerous setbacks, wrong turns, and dead ends. Even now, there are some days that are truly a challenge. But I guess the real turning point was after my brother’s death in 2020. Since then, I don’t put too much attention on obstacles. In preparation for his funeral, my family and I went through many pictures and the experience was out of this world. His photographs provided immense comfort and I was able to relive so many wonderful moments throughout his life by looking through his pictures. That is the true magic of photography, in my opinion. Photographs can live forever, while we cannot.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a wedding and portrait photographer and I specialize in wedding and family portraits. I focus on empowering women and encouraging people to be their authentic self! What sets me apart is EVERYTHING. I’ve never really fit in anywhere, and the experiences I have had allow me to go above and beyond for my clients. I wouldn’t want it any other way.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
I don’t think that anything I say can really help others because we all have our own experience, difficulties, and desires. All I would say is to follow your heart and don’t let other people choose for you. Cultivating a passion is all you need, and all I would tell myself when I was starting out is you’re doing just fine.
