Rising Stars: Meet Gregory DeMyers II

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gregory DeMyers II.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’ve always had a heart for music and an eye for video and photography. A few years ago, my family and I started doing weekly or even monthly videos entitled “Living With Us”. Prior to the videos, I made sure I bought a professional video camera to capture those moments. People would notice the quality of my work which led them to asking me to do something for them. I wasn’t really promoting myself to take on clients but it’s just something that I started doing. I guess you can say that when the pandemic started in 2020, there was a need for me to officially begin taking on clients in order to help them continue living; even if it was virtually. At the time I was in charge of the video ministry, which later turned into streaming at my local church Tabernacle Of David. People heard of the good quality of our stream and asked who was over that area, which led them to contacting me. So eventually I bought a 4K mirrorless camera to enhance the quality of my production and continued streaming for clients. I started watching YouTube videos on photography and started taking on photography clients because I wanted to offer that service as well. As I began taking on more video/streaming clients I felt there was a need for a second camera to capture another angle and eventually I will purchase a third camera to capture three angles simultaneously. Because word travels fast and the quality speaks for itself, I started taking on large business clients. Those clients are mostly hybrid “in-person”/ “remote” streaming clients or just in need of video commercial work. I just recently started renting studio space for my photography clients so now we can have a space to shoot when indoor scenarios are needed.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, it hasn’t. With me being a newly established business in the video/photography area, it’s harder some weeks to keep busy working for clients. During the slow times, I work on my own projects and new music for my group “Gregory D and Company”. Business is picking up for sure because just about every week, someone is inquiring about something I offer. And when I say “I” I mean “we” because my wife and children help me on most of my bigger jobs.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Before I started taking on clients for my business, I was strictly concentrating on my music career. I formed a grouped called “Gregory D and Company” back in 2014 and have released music yearly. Most recently, my latest song “Created” peaked at top 30 on the Gospel Indicator Radio charts so far along with hitting multiple other billboard charts weekly or monthly. This is real big for me and my group. When I love something, I am going to learn all I can to succeed in the area.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs, or other resources you think our readers should check out?
I’ve watch 100’s of hours in YouTube videos to get where I am today along with just having a niche for tech things. I use square for my invoicing and transactions.

I also use… fill in the blank lol. I can’t reveal all my secrets, LOL.
