Today we’d like to introduce you to Anne DiVitto. She and her team share their story with us below:
Grand Rapids Girl was started by two friends, Anne DiVitto and Sue Sikkema, simply out of the desire to share all that is happening in our city. Both born and raised in the Grand Rapids area, they’ve watched the city grow from virtually zero going on downtown, to a vibrant urban area including bars, restaurants, arenas, small venues, and more. GRG enjoys sharing the best in food, fashion, fun, fitness, and the arts (and anything in between).
Our following has grown simply from sharing what we’re doing in Grand Rapids.
With over 7000 followers on Instagram and 600+ on Facebook, we are proud to know that 90% of our followers are in GR, with the rest reporting from surrounding towns in West Michigan.
We favor the established businesses equally to the startups and everything in between appealing to all ages.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Kicking off Grand Rapids Girl has been smooth from the very beginning. As GR natives, we entered our journey to showcase our city with the pure intention of sharing what’s going on here. We truly love our hometown and have watched it grow from just a handful of establishments downtown to the vibrant place that it is right now.
We know our social media presence serves our city’s residents and surrounding areas, so we’ve never worried about our follower count because we want it to grow organically and only reflect the local area.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Grand Rapids Girl?
In addition to sharing our monthly newsletter, participating in influencer campaigns, attending events for local businesses as Grand Rapids Girl, our founding members, Anne and Sue also run their own marketing initiatives in the Grand Rapids area:
Hailing from Grand Rapids, Sue Sikkema is principal and owner of GR Merch Girl, which helps business owners enhance their brand and create lasting relationships with clients through thoughtfully selected imprinted goods. She has been at it for nearly 20 years and her experience makes the process simple and enjoyable for her clients, providing fresh ideas and quality products with admirable service.
Born and raised in Grand Rapids, she cares about our community and the businesses that choose to plant their roots here. The more we support each other and invest in local commerce, the more our city flourishes.
Also checking in as a Grand Rapids area native, Anne DiVitto is an independent digital marketing and social media professional for clients predominantly in the Grand Rapids area. Her work is mainly with local digital marketing agency GreenCup Digital, as a Social Media Strategist. Other clients include the non-profit Susan Mast ALS Foundation and PEDALS for ALS yearly fundraiser, and most recently as the Social Media Community Engagement Coordinator for the Amway River Bank Run.
