Today we’d like to introduce you to Christine Seeley.
Hi Christine, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
Sparta Home Care Professionals came about because I’m always growing and always learning. I’m an avid believer in self-development and from conventional-type jobs to many self-employment ventures including eCommerce for seven years, I found that none of it was spiritually fulfilling. So, I went back to writing, and self-published four e-books on self-development. During that adventure, I became inspired to go to school to obtain my CNA certificate. It didn’t matter to me that I was over fifty years old at the time. You see, I grew up with parents old enough to be my grandparents and all their parents (my grandparents) were born in the 1800s! Because of this, I learned as a child, to be a great caregiver for them as they aged. So, to become a caregiver for seniors felt a natural thing for me to do, and relating to and helping seniors is very spiritually satisfying for me. Having been an entrepreneur before, the marketing aspect of the business came easy to me. But through word-of-mouth is how Sparta Home Care began. During this process of making caregiving a business, I said to myself, “To think, all these years! – I could have started doing this over thirty years ago!”. Over the past year or two, the business has branched into pet boarding, also. Along with my son, who lives with me, we now do pet boarding in our home. It feels like the perfect balance!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
You’re kidding, right? I think everyone has their struggles, and that would definitely include me. As an entrepreneur, I knew some things were expected to be a challenge. Having suffered plenty of loss, grief, and setbacks throughout my earlier years, life itself, became a struggle, making any journey that I chose to embark upon difficult and either short-lasting or not so lucrative. But over the more recent years, Sparta Home Care has begun to create a firm foundation to build upon but still faces knowledge and financial struggles to do so. There are still many local seniors in need of our services but I haven’t time enough to serve each of them personally, and we could really use a larger and more fitting home to be able to board more pets. One of my most recent struggles has been with COVID-19. November of 2020, I contracted Covid-19 from a senior client and had to quarantine, which halted the business. Fortunately, we had a mild case and neither the senior nor I required hospitalization. In the long run, I’m grateful for the challenges because that’s what makes us learn and grow!
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Sparta Home Care?
Sparta Home Care helps local seniors to keep their dignity and be able to stay in their homes. Some of the non-medical services included are assistance with mobility, including with a walker or wheelchair, pet care, local transportation and shopping, food prep, organizing, and much more.
Our pet daycare and boarding services adhere to smaller dogs over one year old, but we love them all, especially the furry or wiry coated! Cats, too! Prices begin at $35 a day/night. $25 for each additional dog. We have no pets of our own but have owned many in the past. We offer a home environment with a fenced-in backyard.
We’re in the midst of creating a new website that includes both aspects of the business.
Soon we expect to have SpartaHomeCare.com as our website address.
As of now, you can reach it by using https://www.christineseeley.com/ as the address to find out more information, and you can email us with any questions.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
My senior parents taught me well. Mom showed me how to care for others, as she did. Dad taught me values and integrity, and to listen more than talk. A big lesson I’ve learned and am reminded of often, is that I can learn more about myself by serving others. Duane Bradford, who is a caregiver and a significant other to a senior client I had, demonstrated to me what a positive attitude can do. It helps me to watch for the good in people and situations, and it makes life in general, feel more satisfying. I’ve learned to become more aware of my own words and actions. By staying conscious in that way, I feel I’m better equipped for serving others.
