Rising Stars: Meet James Wren

Today we’d like to introduce you to James Wren.

Hi James, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
I was born in Ann Arbor, MI. I grew up as the oldest of 3 boys. We spent a year in Japan when I was 5 years old, spending my kindergarten year there. Shortly after, my parents separated and for the rest of my childhood, we bounced around between houses. I enjoyed playing sports to take my mind off of things. I played everything from football and basketball, to lacrosse. When I wasn’t playing sports, I was playing video games. I started working around 13 years old and have not stopped since. I understood from an early age the good work ethic will help me a lot I’m this life. On the same note, I always wanted to attend the University of Michigan, especially growing up in Ann Arbor and being on campus all of the time. My grades were decent in high school, but not top level. I went to Eastern Michigan University for a year, worked extremely hard, and by chance I successfully transferred in at the end of the second semester. I furthermore graduated from the University of Michigan with a degree in psychology and a minor in community action & social change. After college, I went straight into sales which I didn’t care for, but it gave me time to find something more in my wheelhouse. I then started working as a Program Monitor for court appointment parental visits with their children. After working there for almost 2 years, I worked at The Children’s Center in Detroit as a behavior technician for children with autism. I worked here for about 2 years then moved to the social media industry as a social media manager. After founding the social media wing of this company, 2 years later I started the working as a paraprofessional in a charter school and was designated to work with the children with ASD. I quickly moved into a Resource Teacher position as well, giving me opportunity to tutor general population students, as well as service children with IEPs. Recently, I started a new position as a Lead Social Media Manager at the cryptocurrency news company CoinTelegraph. I also run a brand with my brothers called “Beemer Fam”. We have been making videos about cars on YouTube and Instagram in the metro-Detroit area for more than 5 years now. I am involved in local politics as I ran for and won a precinct delegate spot in Ann Arbor when I was 19/20. I organized the #LetHerSpeak car caravan demonstration on Woodward for the Libertarian party last election cycle as I am a part of my local Libertarian Party chapter. I am married and have a dog named Tabby. We love to travel. We recently did our 2nd road trip around the county this summer.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
There have absolutely been bumps along the way. Aside from the divorce reality, I mentioned in the previous writing, losing family members like my grandma and her brothers (my uncles), losing friends to various causes, being on a monetary rollercoaster until now has all been difficult.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I mentioned this in previous writing, but I am a Lead Social Media Manager at the crypto news company CoinTelegraph. I’m best known for the videos I make on my brand Beemer Fam’s YouTube. My sincerity with people, fun-loving nature, and willingness to help others is what sets me apart. I never settle and work hard for what needs to be done so that a better world can be created. Helping person or case at a time is how we help our society become what we idealize.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success is defined by persistence and never giving up on yourself or vision. Undeterred strength through resiliency. Even if the “goal post” moves 10 times, finding a way to attempt and finish on the 11th try.
