Meet Serafina Abrams

Today we’d like to introduce you to Serafina Abrams. 

Hi Serafina, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’m Serafina Abrams, founder and CEO of Astrological Healing + Reiki. I’ve been studying astrology most of my life.

I want to bring healing to the world one person at a time with astrology, Reiki, and deep listening. The world is undergoing a transformation as we begin the era of Jupiter and Saturn in Aquarius. Let’s use this new Aquarian energy to create a world that uses our human power to heal instead of to dominate and oppress others. I’m an experienced astrologer with decades studying astrology via self-teaching, formal classes, and one-on-one mentoring and instruction with several renowned astrologers, including Anne Ortelee of the Organization for Professional Astrologers (OPA) and the International Society for Astrological Research (ISAR), Victoria Naumann and Richard Smoot of ISAR, medical astrologer Ryhan Butler of the International Academy of Astrology (IAA), and with Vedic astrologer Bhaskar Yogi while I was in India.

I’m certified as a Reiki practitioner, First and Second degrees of the Usui Reiki System of Natural Healing.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The biggest challenge is overcoming some of the public’s misconceptions about astrology. Many people think reading your sun sign forecast is what astrology is and don’t know that it’s a study that’s been followed for thousands of years by many serious scholars, including Carl Jung and many world leaders, throughout history. Your sun sign is important but each person is a composite of their birth chart which has many variables beyond just the sun sign.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a Sun in Aquarius, Leo ascendant, Moon in Aries, MC in Aries, and with Mars in Leo in my first house. I love meeting people, connecting with them during a reading, and leaving them feeling understood after a reading or healed after Reiki.

For an astrology reading, I look at birth charts and other astrology charts to help guide clients through challenges and help them understand themselves and those they are close to. Astrology can help clients understand why things are happening in their lives and how to work with personal energy today and in the future.

If the client requests it, I provide certified Reiki service separately or right after an astrology reading to help heal what we found in their astrology charts or with life, in general. My Reiki focuses on healing physical, emotional, and spiritual challenges facing the client.

I’m super proud of my Pay It Forward program. Every time a client books a session with Astrological Healing + Reiki, I donate $10 toward an astrology reading or Reiki session to someone who can’t afford it. My philosophy is that giving to those who have less is an investment in your karma. I ask clients to consider that maybe they’ve been that person who could have used help but couldn’t afford it. A helping hand of energy work or an understanding of life’s challenges might make a difference to someone who needs it. Pay It Forward is their chance to join the club of the big-hearted. No membership cards, no swag, just good karma for the client.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I love Detroit and the whole metro area. My family’s Detroit roots go back to the 1850s. What I love best about Detroit is that it’s strong, big-hearted, and diverse, and it birthed so much in industry, civil rights, and the arts that impacted the country and the world. It still does today. What I like the least about our city is how much it is misunderstood and stereotyped by many who don’t truly know it.
