Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeannene Jones-Rupert.
Jeannene, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My journey into wedding and event planning and design always felt inevitable as I was the go-to planner for my family and friends whenever there was an upcoming event or life moment. I remember as early as middle school coordinating beach days with our friend groups and my early spreadsheets prior to excel.
This early love and knack for events launched me into committees throughout high school, college, and my professional career; always the one with not only the vision for the event but the binder or clipboard filled with every detail needed!
I’ve always been enamored with moments of gathering; whether they be small dinner parties or large multi-day wedding celebrations. There’s just something so special about bringing people together; especially for a wedding which in many ways marks the creation of a new family and legacy!
After years of being the unofficial event and wedding planner, I finally decided to take the leap of faith and create my own business, Jeannene Lillie Events! I knew I wanted my business to focus on the intentional process and details that go into planning weddings and events.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
A few months after our official launch, the wedding industry was brought to a standstill as the COVID-19 virus restricted gatherings and events. During this time, we walked alongside our couples as many of them made hard decisions to either postpone or cancel their long-awaited wedding day. As the virus continues to be a factor for many couples and their weddings, we find ourselves continuing to support them through hard decisions related to the COVID-19 virus.

Jeannene Lillie Events is a wedding and event planning and design company based in Ann Arbor serving couples in Michigan and destinations worldwide. The Jeannene Lillie Events team is committed to planning and designing an intentional wedding that is inspired by our couple’s love story!
We absolutely love getting to know our clients and their personal style so well that we can create an enjoyable wedding planning experience and one-of-a-kind wedding design with their beautiful relationship at its core. For couples who are dreaming of a wedding filled with sentimental moments and a party that brings all their loved ones together to celebrate, we are the perfect fit!
We pride ourselves on being a full-service team that is dedicated to creating an inclusive and welcoming environment to all of our events. We are honored to be a part of each family’s legacy and provide them with memories to last a lifetime. We are also dedicated to ensuring that we create a wonderful experience for our couples as well as their loved ones.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
I genuinely believe our commitment to our couples and creating an intentional and custom experience based on their wants and needs. We meet every single couple where they are and built a custom experience that will serve them and their wedding the best! We are also incredibly dedicated to ensuring that we are inclusive in all the events we create and serving as a leader in our community around diversity, equity, and inclusion.
