Today we’d like to introduce you to Priscilla Sauceda.
Hi Priscilla, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My journey to BabyTime Center has been a very personal one. I came to the United States from Mexico with dreams of building a life for my family, but like many immigrants, I had to learn how to navigate a new culture, a new language, and a completely different environment while finding my own place in it.
My professional background has always involved working with children and families, and becoming a mother changed the way I saw that work. After having my own children, I realized how much parents need spaces where they can connect with their children but also connect with other parents who understand what this stage of life feels like.
That idea eventually became BabyTime Center. What started as a vision for a welcoming space has grown into a community-centered business offering early childhood classes, open play, celebrations, workshops, and events for the community.
Today, BabyTime is more than a business to me. It is a place where families can feel welcome, children can explore and learn through play, and parents can build relationships and community.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely has not been a smooth road and I think that is an important part of the story.
Building a business while raising three children has taught me that entrepreneurship is not always about having everything figured out. There have been financial challenges, long days, unexpected problems, and plenty of moments when I have questioned whether I was doing enough or whether I was on the right path.
Being an immigrant entrepreneur has also meant learning things that are not always obvious: understanding the local business environment, navigating regulations, marketing to a new audience, and becoming comfortable communicating professionally in English.
One of my biggest challenges has been learning to grow a business without losing the personal touch that made me want to create it in the first place.
There have been moments that felt overwhelming, but every challenge has also forced me to become more resourceful, more confident, and more intentional about the kind of business and community I want to build.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about BabyTime Center LLC?
BabyTime Center is a family-focused space in Troy, Michigan designed for children from infancy through early childhood and the parents or caregivers who accompany them.
We offer Spanish-immersion early stimulation classes, open play, birthday celebrations, private events, workshops, and community gatherings. Our goal is to create an environment where children can learn, explore, move, socialize, and develop through play while parents have an opportunity to connect with one another.
One thing that sets BabyTime apart is that we are not simply an indoor playground. We are intentionally creating a community around early childhood and parenting. We want families to come not only to play, but to learn, meet other families, discover local resources, celebrate milestones, and feel that they belong.
Our Spanish-immersion classes are especially meaningful to me because they allow families to introduce or strengthen Spanish in a natural and playful environment. As a Mexican entrepreneur, I also wanted BabyTime to reflect my culture in subtle and authentic ways without making it feel like a themed attraction.
I am most proud of the fact that BabyTime has become a space built around connection. We are a small business, but our vision is bigger than the physical space we want to create a village for families.
Our offerings include:
Spanish-immersion early stimulation classes
Open play for children ages 0–6
Birthday parties and private celebrations
Baby showers and family events
Educational and creative workshops
Community events and collaborations with local entrepreneurs and organizations
At the heart of everything we do is a simple idea: childhood goes by incredibly fast, and families deserve a place where they can slow down, connect, and enjoy it together.
How do you define success?
I define success differently than I did a few years ago.
Of course, building a financially sustainable business matters. But for me, success is not simply about revenue or growth. It is about creating something that has value for other people while also creating a meaningful life for my family.
If a child leaves BabyTime excited about something they discovered, if a parent makes a new friend, if a mom feels less alone, or if a local entrepreneur finds a place to share her talent that is success to me.
I also think success is having the courage to build something that reflects who you are. BabyTime allows me to combine my experience working with children, my identity as a Mexican woman, my experience as a mother, and my entrepreneurial spirit.
For me, success is building a business that can grow while still feeling human.
