Today we’d like to introduce you to Antmvla.
Hi Antmvla, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m a creative person with a background in music, videography, photography, and content creation. I’ve been making music for several years, which has taught me a lot about creativity, storytelling, branding, and connecting with an audience.
Alongside music, I’ve developed my videography skills, from coming up with concepts and filming to editing and creating content for social media. Being an artist has actually helped me become a better videographer because I understand how important visuals are when it comes to telling a story and building a brand.
I’m someone who likes to be hands-on, learn new things, and turn ideas into something people can actually see and connect with. At this point in my career, I’m looking for an opportunity where I can use my creative skills professionally, continue growing, and bring my own perspective to a team.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I’m from the East Side of Detroit, and honestly, a lot of who I am today comes from everything I’ve been through. I’ve always been into music and creating things, and over time that turned into videography, photography, and content creation.
I’ve definitely had some obstacles along the way. I got shot in 2022, and that was a major turning point for me. I’ve also had to navigate different relationships, personal situations, and just figuring out what I really wanted to do with my life. I actually dropped out of college because I decided I wanted to take a chance on myself and pursue my creative goals.
Music has always been one of the ways I express myself, but videography gave me another way to tell stories and bring ideas to life. I’ve learned how to film, edit, create concepts, and think about how content connects with people.
I wouldn’t say everything has gone exactly how I planned, but the obstacles have made me more determined. At this point, I’m really just focused on growing, learning, and finding opportunities where I can use my creativity and actually build something with it.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I started my career as a musician. When I was first coming up, I didn’t have the budget to hire a videographer for my music, so I decided to teach myself how to shoot and edit my own videos. What started as something I was doing out of necessity quickly turned into a passion and eventually became a career.
As I got better, other artists started reaching out to me to create their visuals. That gave me the opportunity to work with different artists, develop my style, build relationships, and establish a name for myself as a videographer. In a lot of ways, videography opened doors for me and really helped catapult my career.
Over the past year or so, I found myself falling back in love with music. After spending so much time helping other artists bring their visions to life, I realized I wanted to start telling my own story again. So I decided to put that same energy back into my music.
That led me to releasing my first album, Easier Said Than Done. Now, I see myself as both an artist and a visual storyteller. Music is where I started, videography helped me build my career, and today I’m able to bring both of those worlds together. I think that combination gives me a unique perspective because I understand the creative process from both sides of the camera.
How do you think about luck?
I think luck has definitely played a role in my life and my career, both good and bad. There were situations I had no control over that could have completely changed the direction of my life. But I’ve learned that what you do with the opportunities you get is more important than the luck itself.
One example is how I got into videography. I originally started making music, but I couldn’t afford to hire someone to shoot my videos, so I taught myself how to do it. That could have just been a limitation, but it ended up being one of the best things that happened for my career because it introduced me to a whole new skill and eventually led to other artists hiring me.
I’ve also experienced some bad luck and difficult situations that forced me to grow and look at life differently. Those experiences taught me not to wait around for the perfect circumstances. If an opportunity comes my way, I try to take advantage of it, and if one doesn’t exist, I try to create one.
So I’d say luck has opened some doors for me, but my work ethic, creativity, and willingness to keep going are what allowed me to walk through them.
