Community Highlights: Meet Nancy Labombard of Naturally Nourished

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nancy Labombard.

Hi Nancy, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My story is really a story about remembering myself.

Like so many women, I spent much of my life caring for others, being a wife and mother, working, and doing what needed to be done. I was busy living the life in front of me, but somewhere along the way, a quieter part of me began asking to be heard.

For more than 20 years, I worked in sales and the restaurant industry. Those years taught me so much about people, connection, communication, service, resilience, and the importance of making someone feel welcome. At the time, I didn’t realize how much those experiences would eventually become part of the foundation for the work I do today.

The turning point in my life came when I suddenly lost my mother to cancer. We were best friends, and her passing changed me profoundly. Losing someone with whom I shared such a deep connection made me look at life, time, relationships, and what really matters in a completely different way.

I still feel connected to my mother energetically, and that experience deepened something that had always been part of me: my connection to nature, spirit, intuition, and the unseen threads that connect us to one another.
Around that same period, I discovered aromatherapy. What began as an interest in essential oils quickly became something much deeper. I was fascinated by the plants, their aromas, their history, and the way scent could connect us to memory, emotion, and presence.

In hindsight, it also felt like a return to my earliest roots.

I was raised on a farm, and some of my most cherished childhood memories are of being in the garden with my grandmothers, watching them tend to plants with such care and reverence. I didn’t realize it at the time, but I was already deeply attuned to nature and aroma, absorbing it all in a quiet, instinctive way that would eventually reveal itself as part of my purpose.

The more I learned about aromatherapy, the more I felt that I had found something that connected all of these parts of me.

With encouragement from my family, I finally gave myself permission to pursue it professionally. I returned to school at almost 50 years old to become a Certified Aromatherapist, specializing in the clinical aromatherapy field, and continued my education in aromatic massage.
This was a significant step for me — not only learning about essential oils and their properties, but understanding the importance of safety, research, formulation, client care, and using aromatherapy with intention and respect, and earning my designation.

I also became a professional member of the Canadian Federation of Aromatherapists, an organization that supports education, professionalism, and ethical standards within the field.

This journey reminded me that I wasn’t starting over. I was bringing everything I had learned from the previous chapters of my life with me.

The creation of my practice began with a great deal of love and nourishment- and without a formal business name. I waited for the right name to come to me in its own time, which happened in 2025.
Naturally Nourished has continued to evolve as I have evolved. Today, my work brings together my love of plants and nature, aromatherapy, aromatic touch, creativity, connection, and my belief that there is something meaningful about creating space for people to slow down and reconnect with themselves.

Looking back, I don’t think I set out to find my purpose. I followed what I was passionate about, listened more deeply to my intuition, and allowed myself to be guided by what felt right.
Somewhere along the way, that passion became purpose.
And perhaps the most important thing my journey has taught me is this:

It is never too late to make a change, to follow something that calls to you, or to discover who you are — again.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
One of my greatest challenges has been learning to trust myself.

For a long time, I think I was very comfortable being the person who took care of things, showed up for others, and did what was expected of me. Making a significant change later in life meant asking myself some uncomfortable questions. What do I really want? What makes me feel alive? And who am I when I’m not simply fulfilling the roles I’ve carried for so many years?

Losing my mother so suddenly was a profound loss, but it also changed the way I looked at life. It reminded me that time is precious and that we don’t always get to choose how many chapters we have. I began to feel much more strongly that I needed to listen to the part of myself I had perhaps been putting aside.

That presented the challenge of building something new.
Starting a new career and building from the ground up in my fifties came with plenty of uncertainty. There were some financial challenges, moments of self-doubt, disappointments, and times when I wondered if I was being unrealistic.
There were certainly moments when I thought, Who am I to do this?

But I kept coming back to the feeling that this was something I was meant to explore.
I have also learned that our previous chapters are never wasted. My years in sales and the restaurant industry gave me a deep understanding of people and connection. My experiences as a wife and mother taught me about compassion and care. My personal challenges taught me resilience. And my relationship with nature taught me patience and trust.
I wasn’t starting over. I was bringing all of those experiences with me.
That realization changed how I viewed the challenges.

I no longer believe that we have to have everything figured out before we begin. Sometimes we simply have to take the next step and trust that the path will reveal itself.
I’m still learning to do that.
But I trust myself much more than I used to, and that may be one of the greatest gifts this journey has given me.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Naturally Nourished is a heart-led aromatherapy practice dedicated to helping people reconnect with themselves through the power of nature, scent, intentional touch, and meaningful moments of care.

At the heart of my work is a deep connection to the botanical world and the belief that there is something extraordinary about our relationship with plants. Aromatherapy has given me a beautiful language through which I can explore that relationship and share it with others through education, personalized experiences, and intentional wellness practices.
I am a Certified Aromatherapist specializing in clinical aromatherapy and aromatic massage. I am also a professional member of the Canadian Federation of Aromatherapists, an organization committed to supporting education, professionalism, and ethical standards within the field.
Through my private practice, I offer personalized aromatherapy consultations, custom essential oil blending, and aromatic massage experiences designed to support each individual’s unique needs. Every session is different because every person arrives with their own story, their own experiences, and their own needs in that moment.
What sets me apart is the balance between professional education and heartfelt connection. My approach combines the science, safety, and knowledge of clinical aromatherapy with the intuitive and deeply personal relationship I have always had with nature.

Every experience is intentionally created for the person in front of me. From private consultations and aromatic massage to workshops and retreats, I believe wellness is not something that can be prescribed from a template. It is something we discover through connection, awareness, and listening to what is needed in each moment.
I am especially proud of the way my business has grown beyond a traditional wellness practice into a space where people can experience comfort & connection in many forms. My private practice, retreats, workshops, and community collaborations all share the same purpose: creating opportunities for people to pause, listen inwardly, and reconnect with what matters most.

I am also incredibly grateful for the collaborations and relationships that have supported the growth of Naturally Nourished. My relationship with Lungovita Beach Retreat has been a beautiful example of alignment — bringing my work into a space that shares a deep appreciation for nature, wellness, community, and intentional living.

I am grateful for the trust they have placed in me and for the opportunity to share my work with their guests and community. These collaborations have reminded me that meaningful growth does not always come from pushing harder. Sometimes it comes from finding the people and places that naturally align with what you believe in.
Ultimately, what I want readers to know about Naturally Nourished is that this work is about so much more than aromatherapy.

It is about creating moments of care.

It is about slowing down in a world that asks us to constantly move faster.

It is about reconnecting with ourselves, with nature, and with one another.

It is about being listened to, seen, and cared for as an individual.

And it is about creating space to breathe, reflect, and remember who we are.

Every person is different. Every day is different. And sometimes, what we need most is simply to be given the space to discover what that is.

That, to me, is the heart of Naturally Nourished.

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
Naturally Nourished has become a beautiful intersection of so many parts of my journey: the little girl growing up on a farm, the woman who spent more than 20 years working with people, the mother and wife, the daughter who lost her best friend, the woman who eventually found aromatherapy, and the woman I am still becoming.
Along my journey, I don’t think I reinvented myself.
I think I remembered myself.
And I believe that when we allow ourselves to follow what genuinely calls to us, passion can become purpose.
It is never too late to discover who you are — again.
