Marvin, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started my motivational journey in 2021 because I wanted to encourage people, speak up for those who may not have a voice, and remind people that they’re not alone in whatever they’re going through. I’ve always wanted to be a difference maker—not just for others, but for myself. Honestly, I didn’t see myself being where I am today, and I know it was nobody but God who brought me this far.
What started as motivational content has grown into a community built around positivity, consistency, faith, and personal growth. I’ve expanded into food reviews, live content, and entertainment. I’ve been DJing for three years and recently completed my first official gig. I’ve also been doing R&B Wednesdays live consistently for the past three years, creating a space where people can come together, enjoy good music, and connect.
I’m grateful for every opportunity God has given me and for the people who have supported me along the way. Salute to everybody who has believed in me, supported my journey, shared my content, or simply encouraged me. I’m proud of how far I’ve come, but I know I’m just getting started. My goal is to continue growing, inspiring people, speaking up for others, and being the difference maker God called me to be
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, it definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. I’ve faced some hard obstacles and there were several times when I wanted to give up. Along the way, God showed me that some of the people I thought supported me weren’t really meant to be part of my journey. At first, that was hard to accept, but I learned to look at those obstacles as learning experiences instead of setbacks.
I’m truly blessed that I have the ability to press record and talk about what I’m going through. For me, motivational speaking and creating content is almost like therapy—it gives me a way to express myself, encourage others, and turn my own experiences into something positive.
It took me about two years on my motivational journey to find some genuinely good people who truly supported me. I honestly feel like if I hadn’t met some of those people, I might have given up. I had to pray about it, trust God, and learn who was really meant to walk with me. Looking back, I’m grateful for every obstacle because each one taught me something. I’m blessed to still be here, still speaking, still creating, and still moving forward.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a motivational speaker and content creator known as BigMarv313. I use my own experiences, challenges, and lessons in life to encourage people to keep going and believe in themselves. I specialize in motivational content centered around perseverance, faith, personal growth, and overcoming obstacles.
I’m also passionate about entertainment and connecting with my audience. I host R&B Wednesdays every Wednesday at 7 PM EST on TikTok LIVE at @BigMarv313, where I bring people together through great music, conversation, and positive energy. I also create food review content, giving my audience a mix of motivation, entertainment, and real-life experiences.
I’m most proud of the community I’ve built and the people who have told me that my words helped them through a difficult time. My journey hasn’t always been easy, and there have been plenty of obstacles and moments when I wanted to give up, but those experiences taught me resilience.
What sets me apart is my authenticity and consistency. I don’t pretend to have everything figured out. I share the real journey—the struggles, the lessons, and the wins—and I use my experiences to remind others that whatever they’re going through, they can keep pushing forward.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
The quality I believe is most important to my success is being real and authentic. I’m the same person on camera as I am off camera. I don’t feel like I have to put on a facade or pretend to be someone I’m not just for social media. What you see is who I really am.
I believe people can feel when you’re being genuine, and that authenticity has helped me build real connections with my audience. I share my experiences, my struggles, and my victories honestly, and I think that’s what makes people trust and relate to me. I’m not trying to be perfect—I’m just being myself and using my platform to make a positive impact.
