Hi Jason, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
.My love for craftsmanship started back when I was a kid, hanging out with my grandpa in his woodshop. For years, woodworking was a hobby for me, and I never imagined I could actually make a living from it. I went to culinary school in Portland, Oregon, in the mid-1990s and spent over 20 years working as a professional chef. But in 2011, I decided to dive into full-time woodworking. It was a big move to change careers in my late 30s, but I’m really glad I took the plunge. I couldn’t have done it without the support of my wife and family.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?

I work with highly figured, rare woods to build custom heirloom-quality pieces. The work takes time, and it is not inexpensive. This can be challenging in an era of instant gratification.

I craft heirloom-quality furniture from highly figured woods, specializing in individualized custom pieces. A client once said I excel at the impossible, which feels fitting. I am known for meticulous attention to detail and for designing one-of-a-kind pieces inspired by cathedrals and modern architectural icons.
