Today we’d like to introduce you to Sari CICUREL.
Hi Sari, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Sari M. Cicurel’s career began behind the scenes at Detroit Public Television, Channel 56, where she began her career in television production and storytelling. After graduating from Michigan State University, she continued building her broadcast experience and later became Program Director for Booth Communications.
Sari eventually ventured into freelance television production, producing programming and helping businesses and organizations communicate their messages through compelling visual stories. As clients increasingly turned to her for guidance beyond production—including media outreach, marketing and brand visibility, her freelance business naturally evolved.
Recognizing that every organization has a story worth telling, Sari created her own public relations agency, Sari M. Cicurel Public Relations. Today, she is an in demand Metro Detroit publicist offering the resources and expertise of a large agency with the personal attention of a boutique firm.
With more than three decades of experience, Sari develops integrated campaigns encompassing media relations, television production, marketing, community relations, special events, social media and brand development. Her production background gives her a distinctive understanding of what reporters and producers need and how to transform a client’s message into a timely, visual and newsworthy story.
Throughout her career, Sari has represented businesses, entrepreneurs and nonprofit organizations across a wide range of industries. Whether helping an emerging company gain visibility, positioning an established executive as an expert or bringing greater attention to an important community cause, she approaches every client with passion, determination and an authentic commitment to helping others tell their stories.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Like many entrepreneurs, Sari’s journey has included challenges shaped by both technology and the economy, remembering the pandemic when she worried about clients losing their businesses. She has successfully navigated recessions, changes in client budgets and periods of financial uncertainty while continuing to grow and adapt to her business.
At the same time, the communications industry has continued to change in television, radio and print to more digital media, social platforms and around the clock news cycle. Rather than resist these changes, Sari embraced them, continually working with new tools and evolving her services to meet the needs of her clients. Each challenge strengthened her ability to remain flexible, resourceful and relevant while staying true to the foundation of her career: authentic storytelling and strong relationships.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a publicist, media specialist and storyteller with more than 35 years of experience in television production, public relations, and community engagement. Through Sari M. Cicurel Public Relations, I help businesses, entrepreneurs, nonprofit organizations and community leaders identify their strongest stories and turn them into meaningful media opportunities.
I specialize in media relations, strategic messaging, television segment development, brand visibility, special events, community relations and integrated marketing. I am known for developing creative, timely and visual story angles that work across television, radio, print and digital media. My goal is not simply to get a client’s name in the news, but to position that client as a trusted expert, introduce the organization to new audiences and create exposure that supports its goals.
What sets me apart is my background in television production. I understand both sides of the camera, which allows me to create pitches that are practical, compelling and ready for the media.
I am most proud of the relationships I have built throughout my career and the trust that clients continue to place in me. Watching a client gain confidence, increase its audience or receive recognition for a mission is incredibly rewarding.
I am also proud that I have built a boutique agency that can adapt to each client’s needs. I genuinely care about the people and organizations I represent, and I believe that commitment comes through in every story I help tell.
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
Storytelling is Sari’s passion, and helping businesses and nonprofit organizations share their unique stories is what continues to drive that passion. She believes every organization has a meaningful story to tell—and she is committed to finding the right words, opportunities and audiences to bring that story to life.
