Today we’d like to introduce you to Tia Banks.
Hi Tia, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My story is really a story of evolution. I didn’t wake up one day and decide I was going to become an entrepreneur and build a business. It happened through years of experiences, challenges, lessons, and realizing that I had more to offer than I was giving myself credit for.
I started Queen Butterflies as a way to use the skills and knowledge I had developed throughout my life to help other people get their lives and businesses together. What started with a few services and ideas continued to grow as I discovered new strengths, pursued certifications, wrote books, created programs, produced events, and learned how to turn my ideas into actual businesses and opportunities.
Over the years, Queen Butterflies has evolved from a small business into a growing enterprise with multiple areas of focus, including consulting, publishing, entertainment, media, travel, financial literacy, holistic wellness, and community initiatives. I’ve also created opportunities for other entrepreneurs, authors, creatives, and community members to have a platform and be seen.
What makes this chapter different is that I’m no longer simply building a business—I’m building an ecosystem. I’m bringing together my businesses, my creativity, my love for people, my storytelling, and my desire to create opportunities under one umbrella.
Today, I’m focused on expanding Queen Butterflies Enterprise while continuing to create projects that have a real impact. I’ve learned that entrepreneurship isn’t just about making money; it’s about building something that can outlive you, creating opportunities for others, and having the courage to keep evolving.
I’m still building, still learning, and still dreaming bigger. And honestly, I feel like I’m just getting started.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it definitely has not been a smooth road. Entrepreneurship has challenged me in ways I never expected. There have been financial struggles, moments of uncertainty, projects that didn’t go the way I planned, and times when I had to figure things out without having a blueprint or someone telling me exactly what to do.
One of my biggest struggles has been learning how to balance being a visionary with actually building the infrastructure behind the vision. I have a lot of ideas, and sometimes my mind is already five steps ahead while I’m still working on step one. Learning patience, delegation, consistency, and how to prioritize what deserves my energy has been a major part of my growth.
I’ve also had to overcome the disappointment that comes when people you believe will support you don’t always show up. That taught me an important lesson: you cannot build your future based on who you hope will support you. You have to build it based on your own commitment to the vision.
There were definitely moments when I questioned whether I was doing too much or whether some of my ideas were too big. But every challenge taught me something. I learned how to teach myself, research, adapt, start over, and keep moving.
The road hasn’t been smooth, but I don’t think it was supposed to be. Every obstacle has helped me become a better businesswoman, a stronger leader, and much more intentional about what I’m building. I wouldn’t erase the difficult parts because they helped create the woman and entrepreneur I am today.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Queen Butterflies LLC?
he name of my business has evolved as I have evolved. What started as Queen Butterflies LLC has now grown into Queen Butterflies Enterprise, which serves as the umbrella for the different businesses, brands, services, and creative projects I have built.
At its heart, Queen Butterflies Enterprise is about helping people get their lives and businesses together—financially, professionally, and holistically. But it has grown into much more than a traditional consulting business. Today, the enterprise encompasses entrepreneurship, consulting, publishing, media and entertainment, events, travel, financial literacy, holistic wellness, and community initiatives.
One area I am especially proud of is Queen Butterflies Publishing. I am an author myself, and I have published multiple books, including The Ultimate Betrayal series, along with my healing and personal-growth publications. Writing has always been an important part of my story because books allow me to turn my experiences, lessons, and imagination into something that can reach people long after a conversation is over. Through publishing, I also want to help other authors bring their stories to life and understand that they don’t have to wait for someone else to give them permission to become an author.
Another major part of the Queen Butterflies brand is media. I am bringing back Voicing with Queen for Season 7, hosted by Queen and Kesh. The show gives people a platform to share their voices, stories, businesses, experiences, and perspectives. Season 7 represents a new chapter for the show, with the theme “The Evolution: Every Voice Matters.” I believe strongly in creating platforms where people who may not traditionally have access to media can be heard.
Our community work is equally important to me. Through our nonprofit, Cene It Thrive, we work to make a tangible difference in the lives of families and senior citizens. Each year, our programs have helped hundreds of families and seniors through initiatives such as our Adopt-a-Family/Adopt-a-Senior efforts, food assistance, senior grocery giveaways, and support for people in need.
This year, we are working toward an even bigger goal: helping 500 families and seniors through our holiday outreach efforts. To accomplish that, we need sponsors, businesses, organizations, and individuals who are willing to partner with us and help us adopt more families and seniors. We can’t do that part alone, and I want people reading this to know that sponsorship isn’t simply supporting an event—it is helping put real resources into the hands of people who need them.
What sets Queen Butterflies Enterprise apart is that I don’t see business, media, publishing, and community service as separate worlds. I see them as connected. My businesses create opportunities. My books tell stories. My media platform gives people a voice. My events bring people together. And Cene It Thrive allows us to pour back into the community.
Brand-wise, I am most proud of the fact that Queen Butterflies has become bigger than me. It has become a platform, a movement, and an ecosystem of ideas and opportunities. I have always believed that success means more when you can use what you’ve built to open doors for other people.
I want readers to understand that Queen Butterflies Enterprise is still evolving. There are more books to write, more businesses to build, more voices to amplify, more entrepreneurs to support, and more people to serve. What people see today is not the finished product—it is another chapter of something I intend to continue building for years to come.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
My biggest advice to anyone just starting out is don’t wait until everything is perfect to begin. Start with what you have, learn what you don’t know, and be willing to adjust along the way.
When I first started, I wish I understood that having a great idea was only the beginning. You also have to learn the business side of entrepreneurship—your numbers, your systems, your marketing, your contracts, your customers, and how to protect what you’re building. I also wish I understood earlier that you don’t have to figure everything out at once.
I’ve taught myself a lot throughout my entrepreneurial journey, and one of the most important things I’ve learned is that not knowing something doesn’t mean you can’t learn it. Research it. Take a class. Ask questions. Find the answer. Then apply what you learn.
I would also tell new entrepreneurs not to compare their beginning to someone else’s middle. Social media can make it look like everyone else has everything figured out, but you don’t see the years of work, mistakes, sacrifices, and failures that happened before the success became visible.
Another lesson I’ve learned is to be careful about who you allow into your business. Everybody who supports you personally may not be the right person to build with professionally. Pay attention to consistency, character, work ethic, and whether someone’s actions match their words.
Most importantly, give yourself permission to evolve. Your first idea doesn’t have to be your final idea. Your business can change as you gain experience and discover new opportunities.
If I could go back and tell my younger entrepreneurial self one thing, it would be: stop worrying so much about whether you’re ready. Start building. You will become ready through the process.
