Inspiring Conversations with Cassandra Gibson of Pavilion Services LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cassandra Gibson.

Hi Cassandra, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My journey has been shaped by a passion for service, education, and community impact. I was born in Florida and spent my formative years in Liberia and Texas. Those experiences gave me a broad perspective and a deep appreciation for community. Later, I established my career in real estate in Maryland before relocating to Michigan.

After becoming a licensed real estate broker, I founded Pavilion Services LLC to provide brokerage and advisory services to buyers, sellers, investors, and property owners. Through my work, I began to recognize a broader need for practical education around homeownership, financial literacy, and wealth building.

That perspective became even more meaningful when I learned that Detroit’s homeownership rate is approximately 54%, compared with about 72% across the Metro Detroit region and roughly 65% nationally. When I was presented with the opportunity to develop a real estate curriculum for schools, I began thinking beyond the curriculum itself. I saw the potential to give young people earlier exposure to homeownership, financial literacy, wealth building, and career pathways within the finance and real estate ecosystem. That broader vision became Detroit Emerge™: Blueprint for Ownership™.

Today, I continue to lead Pavilion Services while growing Detroit Emerge™ through partnerships with schools and community organizations. Working directly with youth and young adults has reinforced the importance of early exposure. When young people begin asking questions about homeownership, investing, entrepreneurship, and career opportunities, it reminds me why this work matters.

At the heart of everything I do is a desire to connect people with practical knowledge and opportunities that can help them build something lasting for themselves and future generations.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but I’ve come to see challenges as opportunities to grow and refine my vision.

Like many entrepreneurs, one of the biggest challenges has been building something from the ground up while balancing multiple responsibilities. Launching a real estate brokerage requires persistence, and developing Detroit Emerge™ has required me to wear many hats, including curriculum developer, instructor, marketer, and relationship builder. Every new opportunity has required patience, consistency, and a willingness to learn.

Another challenge has been introducing a concept that doesn’t fit neatly into one category. Detroit Emerge™ isn’t just a financial literacy program or a real estate course. It’s a homeownership and workforce development initiative that connects education with real-world application. Helping organizations understand that broader vision has taken time, but each conversation has helped me strengthen and refine the program.

I’ve also learned that not every partnership is the right partnership. Along the way, I’ve had experiences that reinforced the importance of protecting my work, establishing clear expectations, and staying true to the mission. Those moments weren’t always easy, but they’ve helped me grow as both an entrepreneur and a leader.

What has kept me going is seeing the impact. When young people begin asking questions about buying a home, investing, starting a business, or planning for their future, I know the work is making a difference. Those moments remind me why I started and encourage me to keep building, even when the path isn’t easy.

Ultimately, every challenge has strengthened my commitment to creating opportunities for others and building something meaningful and sustainable.
