Today we’d like to introduce you to Musheya Glenn.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Musheya A. Glenn is an accomplished Executive Chef, entrepreneur, and community leader born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. A proud mother of two sons, she has dedicated more than 22 years to the hospitality and culinary industry, building a career defined by skill, creativity, and a deep commitment to serving her community.
Chef Musheya began her culinary journey at Henry Ford Community College in Dearborn, Michigan, where she completed the Culinary and Hospitality program. She later expanded her expertise by earning a bachelor’s degree in Business, blending culinary artistry with strong operational and leadership skills. She is also a certified ServSafe Instructor and Proctor, further demonstrating her dedication to food safety and professional excellence.
Her early career included serving as Sous Chef at Henry Ford College’s 5101 Bistro under Executive Chef Richard Teeple. From there, she gained extensive experience across the food service industry, working with respected organizations such as Whole Foods Market and the MGM Grand Casino & Hotel. During this time, she also launched her own catering company, quickly earning a loyal clientele throughout Detroit. Her reputation for bold flavor, beautiful presentation, and exceptional service helped establish her as a rising culinary voice in the city.
Driven by a desire to bring fresh, nutritious, and affordable food to underserved areas of Detroit, Chef Musheya opened Pasta Bowl Detroit in June 2015. For ten years, she owned and operated the restaurant, offering a menu that reflected her passion for quality ingredients, creativity, and community-centered dining. Pasta Bowl Detroit became known not only for its delicious dishes but also for its welcoming atmosphere and commitment to local residents.
Beyond her restaurant work, Chef Musheya has collaborated with numerous nonprofit organizations—including Detroit City Lions Group, B.M.E.A., and R.W. Girls Stars—developing summer lunch programs and introductory cooking classes for youth. Her mission has always been clear: to use food as a tool for empowerment, education, and connection.
Her dedication has earned her recognition from the City of Detroit, including the prestigious Spirit of Detroit Award, presented by Mayor Mike Duggan.
Chef Musheya believes that great food can change the world. Her goal is to continue sharing her knowledge, passion, and experience with the community—creating safe, fun, and flavorful spaces where people can gather, learn, and enjoy the power of good food.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
After the pandemic the day to day operations struggles. Forced me to focus on rebuilding my catering clientele and while utilizing my store front as a commissary kitchen and a pop ups for upcoming Chef.
