Today we’d like to introduce you to Anna Dorsey.
Hi Anna, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Long story short, we fell in love, got married and started a band. Timing-wise, we’re a Covid band, born out of the boredom of quarantine. Years of pentup music came out of our fingertips. Now today, we have traveled from Michigan to Ireland, Indiana and Colorado. Who knows where we’ll end up next.
Earlier this year we competed and made it to Finals at The Stray Battle of the Bands. What an honor, and amazing experience. Challenging laying it all out there for important judges.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Our challenges don’t readily come to mind, which is totally a good thing. I know there are challenges, there have been along the road, but they are blips amid the good bits. We are a well-oiled machine nowadays. It was always easy working together, but nowadays we finish each other’s thoughts, and share in each other’s Ambitions for the future. And the goal for the brand and identity of the band. Past challenges included learning our sound identity, understanding our technical equipment, and frankly just learning the material that we were creating. Memorizing your own lyrics, and things of that nature.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
We’re very proud that we write our own material. 90% of what we play is original. Recording our own songs in studio is such a fulfilling thing, and we are very grateful to be inspired by endless genres of music and art. One of our favorite compliments that fans frequently make is ” you sound like four people up there! “. This is a true Testament to what we’ve been aiming for. We have to fill out huge festival stages, and not be lacking in any way. The performance has to be spot on, dynamic, and memorable.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I think we’re moreso living in the present currently, but I can see a lot of exciting changes that we could do for merchandise, as well as uses for our music. Music festivals after covid have experienced a change in general, but I believe more younger people are getting excited about attending festivals, which is a very helpful thing for us another bands.
Currently we have an amazing original Christmas album coming out, December 5th. Original music meets amazing Christmas whimsy. All recorded at Solid Sound Recording Co.
