Rising Stars: Meet Rodger Penzabene

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rodger Penzabene.

Hi Rodger, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Being an entrepreneur and jazz enthusiasts and a Detroit native I wanted to revive WJZZ Detroit Jazz Radio which is the worlds oldest jazz station.
I enjoy producing and promoting events
and have reestablished the WJZZ brand as a full service media group and it my ambition to build it into the most recognizable and successful jazz culture brand in the world.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No it has been full of issues and strife mainly because I had no prior broadcast experience etc it has been a learn as you go process but a labor of love.
Even the success enjoyed brings it’s share of new issues concerns and more to learn about and adjust to and be responsible for.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I enjoy the creative aspects of planning marketing and promotional strategies to make the station products attractive and prosperous.

I am a pure entrepreneur so I indulge various ventures and investments and I enjoy that the nature of my business interest are also pleasurable.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I predict technology will make it possible for small independent companies more competitive with big corporations or allow the small businesses to grow into major corporations if they are inclined.

I predict independents will opt to merge and consolidate to become stronger and more influentual.
