Today we’d like to introduce you to Carmem Gusmao.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I am doing art for 50 years ! I began in Brasil where I was born then move to America 24 years ago became American citizen and together I use art and psychological tips to do art therapy and help people with traumas , anxiety an panic síndrome to release they fear. I also participate in many art fair during art basel em Miami and have collector all around the globe
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It was very hard to start my new career in America , alone without a support or financial help, but despite all the hard times I could manage to have a job in another area to pay for my experiments in art . I applied for lots of galleries and got a lots of no but o never gave up. I got some good galleries and finally feel that my art was touching people around the country . I got many awards in Miami Florida,sold many paintings and was published in mani magazines. Art is may passion and I keep going . My least struggles began when I move to Michigan 7 years ago and couldn’t find my market uet
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My paintings are a big deep in the nature that surround me. I love to paint what I see when walk in a woods of Michigan . I can seat in front of a lake and as a sponge my brain collect information that later became an enchanted garden. I am very proud to have my paintings in private collections al over the word . To have my big painting Amazonia displays in a Miami embassy belong to the national Brazilian collection
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
If you want to pursue a career in art , paint everyday, also if you think is not good keep painting as you are great . Fake it until you make it . Paint from your art and ignore the critics , learn how to draw how to make composições and watercolor. There’s a lot of tutoriais on YouTube go follow then and paint pain draw draw until you became very good
