Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
We are both Detroit natives, born and raised in the city we’re proud to call home. We’ve been married now for six years and long before becoming business partners, we were entrepreneurs individually. Our tax company is the first venture we started together. We’ve always looked for ways to give back to the community that raised us, and this business gave us the opportunity do just that while providing great service, expertise and value to our community.
We’ve gotten to where we are today through hard work, unity, commitment, and faith. Interestingly, the tax industry wasn’t something we initially set out to pursue—it found us.
At the time, we were working on another business venture when we were presented with an opportunity to partner with another team. We decided to take the opportunity seriously and began researching the industry, educating ourselves, and gaining as much knowledge as possible. We completed various certifications and invested time into understanding the business from the ground up.
We started with a small office space and focused on building our clientele. reputation, and brand. Within just one year, our hard work allowed us to take the next step and move into our own storefront. That milestone was a major accomplishment for us because it represented how far we had come in such a short amount of time.
From there, we started putting what we learned into action. We worked, we learned, we adapted, and we continued building. What started as an unexpected opportunity has grown into a business we’re incredibly proud of, and we’re excited about where it’s taking us next.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Running your own business is definitely not a smooth road, and we’ve encountered our share of challenges along the way. We believe those challenges are simply part of the journey of entrepreneurship.
One of our biggest challenges has been building a strong clientele because, without our clients, our business doesn’t exist. Building genuine relationships and earning our clients’ trust has been crucial to our growth. When we first started, we were entering new territory, so it took time to build awareness and attract consistent traffic.
Another challenge has been standing out in an industry that is highly saturated. We’ve had to be intentional about differentiating ourselves, delivering exceptional service, and creating an experience that sets us apart from other businesses. Those challenges have ultimately pushed us to become more creative, resilient, and committed to continuously improving our business.
We’ve been impressed with SUPERIOR TAX GROUP, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We are a tax preparation company specializing in both small business and personal taxes. We truly live up to our name—Superior Tax Group is committed to providing superior service in a world where exceptional customer service can sometimes feel like an afterthought.
For us, it’s about more than preparing tax returns; it’s about building relationships and making a meaningful impact in the communities we serve. Giving back has always been an important part of who we are. We’ve hosted holiday cash giveaways, provided Thanksgiving dinners to families in need, organized Trunk-or-Treat events, provided meals to children during summer break, and hosted random cash giveaways through social media. Most recently, we’ve been preparing for a back-to-school drive.
We’re proud to show our children that anything is possible when you’re willing to work for it, but we also want them to understand that success comes with a responsibility to give back. We believe it’s important not only to thrive within a community, but to actively contribute to making that community better.

Ultimately, we want to continue building a brand that is recognized for exceptional service, innovation, and a genuine commitment to the communities we serve.
