Today we’d like to introduce you to Nat Neiiendam.
Hi Nat, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started doing my own nails during Covid when all the shops closed has something to do then that turned into a hobby. Then, shortly after I fell in love with doing nails and using that as my canvas for my art work. I’ve always been very creative and I’ve loved anything art related since I was a baby doing nails has become a passion of mine and just working in the beauty industry is a beautiful thing that I’m very grateful I’m able to do I started off with a card table I bought at target and thankfully, my friends and family around. We were very supportive of my dream. Then I started doing nails out of my bedroom then right after high school I enrolled into manicuring school. Got my manicuring license. And move from Livonia, Michigan the only place I’ve ever lived up to Bay City, Michigan, where I now work in uptown as an independent nail tech with two other beautifully creative girls in our salon.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It is definitely not been a smooth road. I quit many times and thankfully I picked it back up because I couldn’t think of a better job for me. My grandpa had passed away in August 2025 but was sick throughout that whole summer I quit on my dream then of September of that year I thought my grandpa wouldn’t want me to give up so I picked my craft back up. Then the move from Livonia to Bay City was really hard for me. Didn’t know many people here whole new clientele. Not seeing progress with myself or my business then I had signed up for an art show in Bay City in June and really procrastinated and unfortunately got into a hit-and-run accident that totaled my car that put me out of work for a week and out of a car for months but I pushed through stayed up countless nights to get everything I needed done for the art show
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I am a licensed nail technician I specialize in natural nail health and growth, and gel extensions. And the intricate artwork I can do I take my time with each client. I make it an experience for them and I get to know them where they’re more than just my Client. They become my friends. I don’t like to rush my work I am a perfectionist lol when you book an appointment with me, you’re not gonna be sitting around because someone else took your appointment time. And you’re not gonna feel like I’m rushing you or trying to just get your money. My clients often tell me I’m like a therapist to them because they sit there and listen to you as well and that I am very proud of that my clients also see me more than just their nail technician. I offer silent appointments. We can sit there and gossip the whole time if you’d like can listen to music watch a movie whatever you would like it’s your time and I’m grateful and very appreciative that you are willing to spend your hard earned money to get a service done by me. For back to school season I have $65 full set and design special going on for students and teachers all that’s required of you to bring in your school ID. And for the rest of the month of August and hopefully I’ll bring it back again. I’m doing a deal or no deal special where you show me what you want you give me a price that you want to pay and I’ll work with you and I’ll try my best to match your budget. I know times are tough right now and yes nails are luxury not a necessity but sometimes it’s really needed to take time for yourself for your mental health and to just take two hours out of your day to feel special and to be catered to
Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
Pinterest is my go to for inspiration to get my brain flowing and to push myself to be more creative but for the most part, Will helps me do my best in life at work and at home it’s just taking inspiration from the people and things around me and to use my brain. I feel like that’s where a lot of people are lost now where they just use AI for everything and don’t let their natural thoughts happen and to be creative for themselves.
